Lots of meals (e.g. curries, meat dishes, caseroles, veggies, home made burgers, cooked sausages) that I have cooked in batches, frozen in portion sized vac packs (done in silicone rubber trays for curries and caseroles, and when frozen, turned out as a 'block' and vac packed).ย  Also a small selection of 'shop bought' ready to cook items, frozen peas, fish fingers, kippers and other favourites.ย  In season, pheasant breasts vac packed, but all last seasons used up.

I can't be the only homeowner with two freezers surelyย :hmm:, I can tell you exactly what is in mine , it's Pigeons and even more Pigeons, and tucked away somewhere are two drake Teal , what is in the household one ? , after deep thought I haven't got a clue but no doubt there are several items that are that old they were bought with shillings and pence or got free with Green Shield Stamps:drinks:

In my prep room freezer, various cuts or venison (Roe, CWD and muntjac) jointed rabbits, diced hare, pheasant breasts. Pigeon crowns, some oven ready partridge , bags of diced apples various other fruit from the garden, also a couple of muntjac heads waiting to be prepped. The inside freezer is the wifeโ€™s domain, I know there are various types of venison burgers in there and the usual frozen consumables( peas, chips etc.)ย

Sound an ideal set up Alan with well assorted game meats in the main freezer , I wonder if the day will come where when you buy venison we will be told what species of deer the venison have come off , and if so would we be any wiserย :hmm:

Itโ€™s a shame they donโ€™t, venison is not just venison. There are differences between deer, finding muntjac on general sale is difficult as butchers find too much work for the profit, which is a shame as I find the taste exceptional, Chinese shot over arable land is again superb and make the most excellent burgers. Roe loin wellington beats beef wellington hands down. Most of the supermarket venison is either Fallow ย or Red I believe, rarely wildย

Iย  have got 3 freezers for dog and ferrets food , there's raw mince , a jointed roe, pigeons , a jay, a magpie , crows ,rooks , jackdawsย  , pheasants , ducks partridgesย  a few roe heads and legs, rabbitsย  ,squirrelsย  cockerels and chicken wings a couple of pouches of cat food i usually buy bread between 10p and 30 pence a loaf and store them in there tooย  ย and i am sure there's still stuff in the bottom i don't know about i keep meaning to defrost them and clean them out but i usually get a phone call do you want ? and i try never to knock them back . There's a fridge freezer in the house but i am not supposed to touch that with my stuff but sometimes i need a overflow LOLย

Yes.ย  I vacuum seal a lot.

  • Cooked leftovers/extras from batch cooking (like ready cooked sausages, home made burgers, stuffed bacon wrapped chicken breasts etc.)
  • Fresh seasonal veggies and fruits (stewed first)
  • Curries, casseroles, stews
  • Some baked products (e.g. pasties), but not very successful as you have to be really 'light' with the vacuum.

Where the food is liquid/semi-liquid (curries, casseroles, stews, mashed veggies like swede, soups and sauces), I freeze it in a silicone rubber tray to make a one portion sized frozen 'cube', then peel the frozen cube out ofthe silicone tray and vac pac it.ย  Works very well.

Pies, I don't vac seal, but size to be a close fit in Lock and Lock containers.

We started doing it about a year ago and its made a big difference to the taste (not frost burnt) so it keeps longer. :good:

About 12kg of ABS Rock Lobster boilies (22mm, 18mm, 15 and 12mm), 8 pints of cooked maple peas, 6 pints of cooked hemp, approx. 3kg of cooked tiger nuts and about 5kg of assorted deadbaits (sardines, roach, herring, smelt and mackerel tails).

I hope your freezer never breaks down, that lot would go a tad stinky ๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜‚

Yeah, and it's not as if I could try and eat it all, either.

From your location, you're obviously close to Kent casein mines.

Well you could try,,,, not a good idea though ๐Ÿคญ

Not sure what you mean re the mines ?

An 80's carp angling joke.

When you came through the tunnel from the fair county of Essex in to Kent, your used to be able to see the chalk in the land.

Kent and in particular the Dartford area (Darenth, Sutton at Hone, Horton Kirby, Brooklands) was an area of innovation for carp angling; casein is a milk protein that was used extensively as an ingredient in carp bait. Casein is white as is the chalk.ย
