We have got N H S dentist's in Norfolk shutting up and going private , I never missed an appointment as I wasn't given one when the non urgent appointments were stopped during the Corvid problems , my problem was I never made one in the time window when restrictions were over , so after 40 odd years of being with the same dentist I no longer  had one , and still haven't got one with no signs of ever getting another N H S one.

Or dentist stopped taking patients during covid then only restarted taking emergency patients , My wife phoned up to make a health check since we haven't been in over 2 years , Oh yes when in January would suit you ?  Don't know how long they will last out as they where taking NHS patients and where swamped out

So back on topic 🙈

Whenever I visit hospitals, or town centres, my first thoughts are parking and how to pay for it ! Hardly use cash for anything nowadays, but have always got some notes in my wallet and take some coins for parking, just in case 🙃

The Taxpayers pays for hospitals, they should not be charged again to park on what they have paid for!

Whilst I agree completely the logic says that lots of people would use free parking as all day work parking or shopping parking etc as lots of hospitals are near such places, and there would be even less hospital parking available.

Not sure what the answer is but there are no easy ones.

We are quite fortunate  here in southwest Scotland  car parks at hospitals are. Free parking

Yes but unfortunately the Scottish NHS debt was 2 to 3 times that of the English NHS debt per person last time i looked into it, enjoy your free NHS parking and prescriptions while you can. It all has to be paid for by taxpayers. Because there is no government money, only taxpayers money. And spending other peoples money is so easy.

And let me guess. Like many of us, you didn’t use any ear defenders when shooting in your younger days.

I attend hospital every month for eye injections for a macula edema plus more appointments for the wife and still find time to go shooting at least once a week, but admit, like many on here, to being in my 70s.

Good luck with the hearing aids Dave. They’ve certainly changed my life. I can now engage in conversations in crowded places whereas previously I felt totally isolated not being able to pick up individual speech.

OB

I AM GUILTY OF NOT USING EAR DEFENDERS.

I last had a check up at my nhs dentists 18 months ago, have had regular 6 months visits for decades, then suddenly they decided 12 months was enough, since then my dentist left the practice and they haven’t got a replacement- not sure they are trying anyway as they want to force us to go private. When I ask them I keep getting the same answer month after month- we will call you in when a new dentist starts, question is when? years, decades? or in truth, likely never!

My NHS dentist sold the practice to a new outfit manned by Asian Dentists.  Had my first visit today and the Dentist was so rude it was blatant they wanted shut off me and when I say rude I mean rude.

Same in Wales, free hospital parking and prescriptions, the woke Drakeford government is good for something at least, though I think if people with say over £30,000 income paid £5 for their prescriptions the money could be used for important nhs needs.

Do we not all pay the same national insurance? I honestly think the NHS and most other government run schemes turn into employment cows. Its one way of employing the educated unemployables I suppose.
