enfieldspares
Yes. And we'll still be riding them in another hundred years time when rockets will be seen but only in history books and history programmes.
NoBodyImportant
I saw one of the raptors engines in person a while back and it’s awe inspiring that humans can build something like that. 59min in the reentry was amazing. They left heat tiles off the ship on purpose to monitor the ship. They said under normal conditions they wouldn’t come in that hot but this test was a high heat re entry. Plus they came in hotter than normal. This was a high heat re entry at 1200 degrees hotter than a normal entry plus no heat tiles so they dropped it in the ocean. They have already proven multiple times it will land vertical. Just now, NoBodyImportant said: They do, but they left heat shield tiles off on purpose. Plus they came in hotter than normal. Honestly they probably didn’t expect it to survive, remember one tile coming off blew up challenger. But they still hovered it vertical over the ocean before gently dropping in in. Gordon R
There are far more important things to spend our money on:- Legal Aid China's space programme India's space programme. Foreign Aid. Devolved Parliaments. An NHS Service which is well funded, but the budgets are misspent. The list is almost endless.

Sussexboy
No point having a Sunday roast, what with the gravy floating around everywhere, and trying to stab a spud as it whizzes past your nose…
old'un
We haven't come that far really, 80 years ago a little German bloke was sending these things across the channel. When I watched this video it made me think of the Cadbury smash advert from the 70s, aliens were laughing at us on how we made mashed potato, if those aliens were to-do an advert today they would be laughing at us using the same method of propulsion that we were using 80 years ago, in fact this method of propulsion dates back some 2000 years, we have a long way to go before we have a starship powered by a Warp-drive Impulse engines.
