DUNKS
Hi folk. Just recd my home insurance quote for next year. With no alterations it's DOUBLE last years price. Phoned them and no apology just "that's how it is" Like it or lump it! Can anyone recommend a decent insurer who might demand less than £490 for a standard detached house. Thanks. Wymondley
Use a comparison site. I had one of my vehicles and my home and contents with the AA, who had been cheap, but wanted nearly double on both this year. I'm now with esure and Tesco bank via go compare, and saved about £700. I spoke to the AA (who are only brokers) and they couldn't get near what I'd been quoted on go compare.
TOPGUN749
I had the same experience this year, my insurer the co-op,wanted 110% extra, from £117 to £242 for buildings and contents . Checked comparison sites and all up by double on last year.I thought they were punishing me for making a storm damage claim in 2022,but they wouldn’t give the reason and wouldn’t reduce it! Strangely though my brother in same area gets a lower premium on a detached bungalow worth more than double my small house! Minky
BUT WAIT. Comparison sites.. merkats... go compare and all of them don't do it for nothing. It's a elight con. The comparison sites are business and have to mak3 money out of any deal. The add their cut on top. YES USE A SITE TO SEE WHO IS CHEAPEST... FOR THE COVER THAT YOU WANT AND NEED. Then ring that company up direct and tell them what you want. You should be able to get a cheaper deal direct than actually going through Meerkats or other Comparison sites. Dave at kelton
I had exactly the same this year. I just did price comparison sites and found just a 20% increase.

Tesco's was also a lot cheaper on my car insurance , I have got the maximum no claim , car worth about 5K and kept on my driveway , last year it was around £400 and now from AXA it is just over £800 which have gone up just over double . I fear my house and contents insurance will be the same . MM
