Malmo Guns

Went to Blackpool Clay Club this morning with Ollie - a friend of my regular shooting mates - Mark. He has only recently got his licence and bought two guns off me within a couple of days of his licence arriving. He wanted a look at a gun shop, as he had never been inside one. He mentioned Bamfords at Eccleston, but I said we are going to Malmo Guns, Anyon Barn.

It must be two years since I set foot in the place and I was astonished at the change. Still got a mega range of shotguns, but the layout was almost totally different. From the toilet being next door to the shop, it has now moved inside. The clothing department was probably three or four times the size of my last visit. Other things hadn't changed. Same friendly welcome from Bryan and Rosie Prest. Whilst I didn't visit to buy a gun, nor did I, I did buy a thousand shells - Cheddite fibre wads, at the cheapest price around. £9 cheaper than Fiocchi from a rival establishment - which aren't in the same league as Cheddite.

I know Scully is a big Malmo fan - rightly so. Still the best gun shop around.

Coincidentally I recently (this last week) bought a 20 bore Lincoln Jubilee from Malmo Guns and was most impressed by the prompt attention that I received from Rosie to all my questions about the gun. Not only that, she dealt with the transfer of the gun very quickly and efficiently keeping me well informed of the progress.

This is the first time that I’ve dealt with them so it’s a big :good: from me.

Yes, Bryan and Rosie and all staff are always very pleasant and helpful. Fantastic selection  and reasonable to deal with. Always a pleasure to visit.

They are a super follow on from  MALcolm & MOreen, from the original smaller store. Regards

Never been to malmo guns but they can't be bothered to answer my emails, also they are supposed to be the UK distributer of Cheddite cartridges but they don't seem to want to send them to other gun shops. No praise from me I'm afraid.

That's disappointing and also surprising.Personally, I would be inclined to phone ask for explanation if I wished clarification.  It may be an oversight or mix up. Or poor service, which is unusual. Regards

You surprise me. Have you considered picking up the phone?

I know people that live their life through their phone, banking, shopping, monitoring what they eat etc etc...the look of horror when suggest using it to talk to a person, I often check in the mirror to ensure I have not sprouted a second head

Obviously not !!

I had never used them before but have nothing but praise for them. They (Rosie) answered my emails and phone calls immediately and kept me fully informed of the progress of the transfer of the gun that I recently purchased from them. Even before that Rosie answered all of my copious questions regarding the gun and made sure after purchase that I was 100% happy, which of course I was.

Great service.

They ALWAYS answer my emails, and I know of another store that stocks/sells the Cheddite cartridges.  It is a drive of over an hour for me to go to Malmo Guns, but it is my FIRST port of call when looking for a gun. They are, in my view, the number 1 gunshop in the North West, and I have visited them all.

I can second that Westley, I have purchased my last three guns from Brian and always left there well chuffed. After service excellent too.

I am not saying they aren't a great shop. What I am saying is that if you send an email, ( which I have done on numerous occasions ), asking for information, not asking to buy, they don't answer. Also on 3 occasions at 3 separate gun shops, I have asked if they can get cheddite cartridges from malmo guns they have all come up with the similar answer, ie, they are unreliable at supplying them and we keep having to let down customers who have asked for them. Now I can't accuse these gun shops of lying , I'm just reporting what I've been told.

Wesley can you tell me who the other gun shop is who sell cheddite cartridges, plenty of shops advertise them, but never have any, Thanks

I have previously purchased Cheddite cartridges at Westlands gun room. I wasn't impressed with the cartridges , therefore I haven't enquired if they still supply them.

Westlands are a bit erratic/ unreliable as to cartridge choice, although they usually have a reasonable choice. Regards
