About how it might have been 60 years ago. The one overriding thing I can still remember about any of the "soaps" or lower level pointless TV programmes attempting to show "real life" is whenever in a bar or a pub, people leave drinks behind, they NEVER knock them back. So UNREALISTIC.

marsh man
I could at one time listen to the local radio ( B B C Radio Norfolk ) all day long , some very interesting programs when they visited various venues around the county , had a valuation on antiques when listeners sent in photos of anything they thought they had of value and many more programs to listen to while passing the hour of day away . Then a year or so ago things started to take a turn for the worse , some of the presenters called it a day and other counties were all brought into one so it was no longer local radio , some of it is alright but as they , all good things don't last for ever . now for me it's some radio during the day while pottering about and at night when I settle down it is then the television . Some programs are excellent. All employees massively over paid on the basis of them going somewhere else if the troug is deeper? Just another tax sponsored by the politicos? Look at Vines salary for utter daily drivel?
TIGHTCHOKE
Yes to all of the above, but I would say a "FEW" programmes were excellent.

Some I do by the guests and some I don't , but my main interest is the different locations it is set in and not to take the program to serious , by the end I am no wiser than from the beginning , take the other week it was set in areas around the Wash and in North Norfolk about the bird life that arrive around now for the Winter ( feathered variety ) and I did find that interesting with some excellent camera work ,that is something not available on the radio . Years ago when married, my wife would watch no end of carp, soap operas were absolutely the lowest of the low, but have now been overtaken by "reality TV" When I moved house I cancelled the direct debit for my TV Licence. I do NOT miss it one bit, I realised I used to have it on as background noise. Oh and I do read an awful lot of books. Similar; recent read Gulag Archipeligo, The Washing of the Spears (rise and fall of the Zulu empire) and half way though Graham Hancock's Fingerprints of the Gods. Still have a TV, but cancelled the licence; all non live streaming.

marsh man
1 hour ago, TIGHTCHOKE said: Yes, I strongly suspect he is colour blind, judging by his attire. His sidekick on the A / R ( Bill Harriman ) came on ours once for a days game shooting , a bit over weight and not one of the fittest when it came to a bit of walking , he was using a s x s Black Powder hammer gun 12 bore , his gum looked fine but sadly his shooting skills were nothing to write home about . I used to collect any unusual cartridge boxes out of the rubbish bin I had in the back of the guns wagon and I picked his Black powder cartridge box out , these I kept above my gun cabinet and there was quite a collection as we had a lot of overseas game shooters and most of them brought there own cartridges , in the end I got fed up moving them about and flogged them all on Ebay including Mr Harriman's , and would you believe that some ended up in New Zealand. London Best
Forty years ago I was working with a wannabe shooting man who modelled himself on Seth Armstrong, thinking that was the image of a gamekeeper/shooting man. I bumped into him on a shoot last season and he has given up that image.
