Possibly so, it makes some wonder how there can be two tiers of justice?
clangerman
some of the rioters appeals have been denied on grounds riots deserve a stiffer sentence to deter others if we swallow that excuse for state revenge it also applies to this moron because you lead by example so he should have a stiff sentence to deter others from assault but it won’t happen! Some of the rioters were in jail after a week, I wonder if Clubber Amesbury gets similar treatment, you know , to deter MP s beating up constituents? TIGHTCHOKE
Is this just going to become a THIRD tier to our justice system?

If labour have suspended him does that mean he is no longer a MP and would his constituency be open for another election ?

TIGHTCHOKE Posted Thursday at 10:52 Report Share Posted Thursday at 10:52 He has apparently admitted assault. From the BBC Website; "MP Mike Amesbury has admitted assault by beating after a video emerged showing him punching a man to the ground in his Cheshire constituency. Amesbury, who represents Runcorn and Helsby, pleaded guilty to assaulting the 45-year-old at Chester Magistrates' Court. He had been suspended from the Labour Party after the footage appeared of the fracas, which occurred in Frodsham, Cheshire, at 02:45 BST on 26 October last year. The video, which did not show the lead up to the altercation, recorded Amesbury shouting: "You won't threaten the MP ever again, will you?" Amesbury, who now sits as an independent MP, won his seat at the general election in July with a majority of 14,696. He had served under Labour since 2017 and was a shadow minister between 2018 and 2024. Alison Storey, prosecuting, told the court at about 02:00 GMT victim Paul Fellows was in Frodsham town centre and went to a taxi rank. He was alone and had been drinking, she said. Ms Storey said: "Mr Amesbury arrived at the same taxi rank. He too was alone and he too had been drinking."

TIGHTCHOKE Posted Thursday at 11:17 Report Share Posted Thursday at 11:17 Sentencing will be later. Interesting to see if it is long enough to cause a "recall petition"

Mr. Merkel Posted Thursday at 11:44 Report Share Posted Thursday at 11:44 In the good ole days, common assault was a bind over to keep the peace and a £10 fine, done on the day of conviction so no more court time was taken up, I fail to see why they have to put off sentencing when he's been on remand long enough for enquiries. Usually sentenced at a later date to give the judge time to read up about all the facts and consider the case
