marsh man Posted Sunday at 10:25 Report Share Posted Sunday at 10:25 We must be one of the ( warmest ) places in the country , at the moment it 5 degrees and cloudy , yesterday I was outside and felt cold till we had 11s , then my coffee got to work and I was alright for what was just a decent normal Winters day , looking at the news this morning the weather was one of the main subjects , everywhere they showed you had only a slight covering of snow , and I had to smile when the reporter said even the snow plough nearly got stuck and had it wheels spinning , my god what on earth is this country coming to , anyhow I have been advised to stay at home unless it urgent to step out of your front door , so I will go out from my back door and report back when I get home , if I get back home , just put on a long sleeve shirt inside of my short sleeve one I had on yesterday and to make sure I stay warm I have also added a thin jumper , so I should be alright , but please be sensible and wrap up warm

Mice! Posted Sunday at 10:42 Report Share Posted Sunday at 10:42 I've no photos, but trust me there's plenty in South Lakes, driving into work this morning was fun, cars abandoned, ambulance being towed up the hill, Jack knifed lorries, my car went sideways several times despite having winter tyres and driving slowly. Then you have the fun of driving behind people who should clearly have stayed home. Yet South of Preston there's hardly any snow.

That one look like an extra, extra large , I am now down to a medium so it would be far to big for me , maybe I could cut it down a bit and use the waste material to make a head scarf . 6 minutes ago, old'un said: Its cold here but the wife is just getting the fire going. That bring back a lot of happy memories , we used a page of the News Of The World and got it down to a fine art , very soon you would hear the roar , then the page would turn a nice Brown , you then waited a little longer until the page was ready to ignite , once it burst into flame you quickly chucked it on the open fire and you could then carry on with your household chores in a safe and warm environment. Have a nice day

Yeah, Mother did it every morning. My parents never did live in a house with central heating, but did progress to a gas fire.

I rest my case. Incidentally, as a toolmaker I worked in metric and imperial measurements all my life and used them interchangeably. LB - I've yet to meet ANY car driver (of any age) who can answer that one! And, as an engineering draughtsman and lab techie, I can also work with either - and (though I don't like to boast) with rods and chains!
