marsh man Posted Wednesday at 19:32 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 19:32 Done the last duck I shot in the oven and finished it off under the grill , very , very tender , unlike the first one I done that was tougher than the steel that put it to rest , used the gravy the duck was done in and you could taste the Orange , a bit strong if anything , overall it was alright and will have the rest of the duck tomorrow cold , and my dog will finish the steamed veg off . Yes I keep learning by my mistakes , one mistake I nearly done was closing the top oven door when I finished it off under the grill , that could have been a very costly mistake to say the least . MM 6 minutes ago, ditchman said: that duck looks bloody perfect Simon ... I done exactly as you and welsh1 said , started it off breast down and then half way through I turned it over until the time was up , then transferred it to the grill and kept an eve on it until it looked right , a fair bit of work involved and it will take a little while in the morning to get everything clean , still something I ain't short of is time 4 minutes ago, JKD said: WOW !!! 😲 👌 😋 Got no words 😃 👍 Now , now JKD , you are not normally lost for words , it was a bit of a mixture tonight but tomorrow night I will be using up the oddments from the fridge , I have got some Chicken nuggets and cold duck and that is only the starter

Looks amazing 😃 Usually though,,,, not a criticism, more of a guide,,,, the orange is made into a sauce, not put on the plate 😉 See this as a guide and tweak things to suit 🫡 https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/duck_a_lorange_58409

Morning welsh 1 THANKS , still not up to your good ladies duck she done recently but I took on board roasting it breast down for around half the time and then turned it back up so to speak , not bad at all but like my ole teacher used to say , there is a lot of room for improvement . MM 11 hours ago, tobiasthedog said: Looks amazing. Thanks for sharing. Must be satisfying THANKS .. The satisfaction start from shooting the duck in the first place , watching your dog doing the retrieve , then making a nice job of processing the duck and then end up doing a fair job in cooking it , if it taste good then that is a bonus , then if it don't the retriever get a bit more for his tea

I will do my best to get one more before the inland season finish , I would had gone tonight but it was raining hard until it was nearly dark and fairly cold as well , might go tomorrow night as it should be windy and there should be a few duck about , failing that we have got another shoot Saturday which is the last planed one and we have got a day on the 31st to clear the cock birds up , so far we haven't had one really rough day with heavy rain , Saturday should be fine and hopefully the weather will last out for one more week , nothing worse to get a really wet day when for a lot of them it is the only chance they get with standing on a peg . MM 8 minutes ago, TIGHTCHOKE said: They don't make much out of you, do they? I don't know about that Dave , there slogan should be like Tesco's , every little count , I must admit I buy very little if it isn't on offer or reduced , the best time is from about 3pm on a Sunday afternoon , the girls clear everything from the reduced cabinet and then take it out to the back and reduce it all again , sometimes you get the same one or two people waiting until she come back but they are waiting for certain stuff where I am not that fussy , if it is cheap enough then I normally buy it so the least they can do is to treat me to a coffee . 4 minutes ago, ditchman said: he cleans up on the "eat now or die shelf" If I leave anything on the shelf then it would more than likely kill you , if I don't want it then it wouldn't be worth having
