Mrs Sweepy
right am being made redundant . i love my job and all the people that i work with . they are a great bunch . we have been though alot in the last year . their have been times were we had laugh ,cry gone mad and protected each other but we have all stuck together and this has got us though the last year and because of this it has made us like one big famliy. but now we have been told that come summer we are all out of a jobs . we always knew that something like this could happen but when it did.it came out of the blue . at the mo everyone is walking around like zombies . your heart is not in the job .which is not good for the job that we are in (we have been told not to go to the papers about it as it will not be in are favour to do so ). but we have been ****on from a great height. anyway i now have the task of finding a job that fits round my famliy which is not easy . the next few months will be hard as each week gos by we will be saying goodbye to faces that we have seen almost every day for the last few years . and for those that know what i do for a living .some faces will be harder to see go then others (as they are the ones that we have really let down ). anyway i was always bought up to think positive .so something will turn up for me eventually. dont know what or when .but something will. to be honest if i could stay till the end i would .got this far i would like to see it though to the end . i know the hardest part will be when i lock the doors for the last time and hand my keys in . if you have read to is bit thank you for taking the time .i just needed to say it. suzy
pin
Sorry to hear that Suz, it's easily said in times like this but things have a habit of sorting themselves out for nice people like you
MC
Suzy, I was in the same boat about 9 months ago, I know it is not easy but it does get better. You will find another job that will be better with different people that you will get on with just as well if not better than the people now. The kicked in the stomach feeling does pass and remember that some day you will see your boss broken down at the side of the road in the pouring rain and you can just drive past, head held high. Get sweepy to make a fuss of you for the next week or so and it will all seem better. All the best Martin
tweedledee
suzy always look on the bright side there are many folks out there worse of,i know it might be hard but things will come good you wait and see.i wish you and the family all the best at this time.hope you ll get sorted ok
Mungler
It's a short term ****** but I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. You will find a better job and in a year's time you will wonder why it was that you stuck it out there for so long.
Cranfield
That is not very good news and its usually the people you miss more than the job. As has been said, "when one door closes, another opens", there is a job out there for you and there will be nice people there to. Feel sorry for yourself for a few days, buy a bottle (or two) of your favourite wine and indulge. Then go and look for that new job.
SecretFollower
I was there just over a year ago so I know what you're going through. As for missing the people - the people I thought I'd miss I've made sure I keep in touch with and my old boss treats me to lunch now and then. I'm sure you'll have lots of support from your family which is something I didn't have so make the most of it and make sure Mr S spoils you rotten. Have a well deserved break and then face job hunting when you're ready for it. With any luck you'll find a better job with better bosses! It's bound to seem awful at the moment tho and I certainly haven't forgotten what that was like. Good luck and keep us posted! R
Tony9r
Happened to me five and a half years ago... started up my own business, never looked back!
Piebob
I think it's all been said already. It feels like hell just now, but at least the company have told you what's happening so use the time between now and summer to prepare and look for something you'll love. I know quite a few folk who's "notification" was to arrive at work and find black bin liners on their desks, told to collect them, and that they didn't have a job any more. And quite often, they now look back and think that redundancy was the best thing that happened to them. It being the event that forced them to look elsewhere. I'm sure you'll be alright - good luck. vole
Sorry about the bad news and sincerely hope something comes up.Only a suggestion but with your obvious communication skills and personality I could see you doing a job involved in caring for people in some shape or form.Nothing to do with part of my job being recruitment at all ! Never met you of course but you do get an impression of folks.. Chin up Suzy.

Pushkin
Suzy, bad news but always there is a light a the end of the tunnel - and no - it isn't a train coming towards you before any wiseass makes the comment. Get round to your local college and see what courses they have to offer for re-training if that is what you fancy. they have training advisors who are usually quite good at helping adults looka t and consider the options available to them. Funding can usually be accessed via some source or other so that you don't have to pay for the training yourself - or at least not for the bulk of it. All good luck to you Suzy and - feel the looooooove from this forum! Pushkin.

Stu S
Don't really have anything new to add here, but I thought I'd offer my support in addition to all the others that have done so already. It is a real ****** when your life changes through something that is not in your control, and that is probably one of the most frustrating elements of being made redundant. The only advice I can offer is just stick it out as long as you possibly can, and take them for everything you possibly might be maybe entitled to, as this will help you out while you are on the hunt again. If you are in need of some tips about how much you are entitled to recieve when being made redundant, have a look at the dear old ACAS website. You will find all the information you need right there. Hope it all goes well for you! Stu
Mrs Sweepy
thanks stu , we have all got a meeting tomorrow ,so we should know a bit more afterwards hopefully . my main concern at the mo is to get the date they want us to finish in writing ,so we cant turn up next week and find they have locked the doors . beleave it or not but i had four job offers today . a couple i am thinking about .but i would really like to see this out to the end . i know am mad . had a quick look at what the local collage has on offer .very intesting i must admit . next week we have someone coming in to tell us exactly what pay out .we might get from them ,should be interesting . and believe it or not i should be getting a little bit extra as i am 42 so it do have advantages being old xxxsuzy
