i had a escort semi auto a couple of years ago from new, i had nothing but trouble from it for failing to eject spent cartridges, got that bad it was effecting confidence with my shooting wondering weather it would let me fire more than one round, the agent i brought it from took it back saying he had not had any other guns do that, but i had heard of someone else with the same problem!! anyone else had this problem with this gun? It seems to be the luck of the draw with the Escort some work faultlessly and others are damn rubbish .

I was going to get one myself but some of the reviews I read put me off.

Having said that stokeshooter bought one and its never let him down .

Even cycles 28g 7.5 in 65mm cases when we do some clays.

So seems you got a bad one and he didnt

No problems with mine-it cycles perfectly. After i clean the barrel,i push a piece of stainless steel wire through the two gas ports to clean any muck out.I found that when i swabbed the barrel with cleaner or oil-it pushes a tiny amount into the ports which then seem to attract burnt powder residue so now i make a habit of cleaning them afterwards or just prior to shooting.

This is the problem with the old escort, and the reasons why for everyone one person complaining, there will be at least 4 saying it's the best value gun ever.

It really is the luck of the draw, they'll either service you for life, or make you pull your hair out.

But that's what you get for £300

Mate has one and it will not cycle anything less than a 70 mm cartridge.

I have an auto that doesn't like 24g carts and will jam on 28g 65mm carts if not cleaned, but regardless of length of cartridge or cleaning will always cycle a cart with some oompf like 65mm 32 or 30 g of No. 6.

I couldn't quite work out why the hatsan wouldn't cycle a 65mm cart with a wallopy load.

You can't have a gun that regularly fails you because it will kill your shooting - everytime you pull the trigger you will be more thinking about whether the gun will go off.

I have the 3.5 inch magnum and haven't had any trouble with it at all! had no problems ejecting light loads in 2+3/4 inch right up to bb in 3.5 inch. Keep it cean, keep the o ring well lubed and it shouldgive you no grief......But i guess im one of the lucky ones!

I had the same probs with a Franchi Raptor a few years back. IMHO you did the right thing, as has been said, if you persevere with a gun which you half expect to fail to fire your shooting would have gone up the wall fast.

Go with Throdgrain's suggestion of Beretta or Benelli :good:
