Walking Boots

I use a pair of Hi Tech magnum boots. I'm on my second pair now. I've worn them while trekking through the Himalaya, and they were brilliant. Kept my feet cool when the weather was warm, and warm when it got very cold (- 15 degrees)

There may be better ones out there, but pound for pound, you won't beat these. I paid around the £80 mark, but I have seen them cheaper. They are waterproof and breathable.

Pair of goretex lined pro boots would do the job for most of the year and last ages and a pair of pro boot desert boots for the really warm weather.. I had a pair of hi-tech magnums for about 5 minutes originally bought for going on exercise in Cyprus but soon binned as they were utter sh*te imo. You could feel every rock and pebble through the the sole only any good as a barrack boot although newer versions could be better.

It Really All Depends On What Height You Want Your Boots !!!!

I use and swear by " Brasher Hillmaster GTX Walking Boots " £ 105 , Goretex ,

I have had 2 pairs of these and i have to be fair they are the best boots i have ever owned . I use mine ALL year round across farms chalky tracks , Mud, And just General Stomping .

They are extremelly comfortable from the word go straight out of the box , No breaking or wearing like other Boots . They are fully waterproof , Breathable , and above all " VERY QUITE " . Stalking in these is fantastic nice soft quite soles so you get really close to your prey , quarry etc .

They are cut low ankle height but i have never had a problem with wet legs or shins or anything , obviously being sensible.

Even in the summer time i never have sweaty feet and i wear these ALL DAY Long.

Available in millets or blacks outdoor shops . Go and try a apir on you might like them .

Good luck hope this helps .

I used to work for a Meindl distributor, so whilst I have umpteen pairs, I am a little biased. I've worn Meindl boots on shooting and Army forays all over the world. I wear Burma Pros almost all year round for shooting and farming. I have a pair of the Douvre Extremes, which I don't think can be beaten as a British winter hunting boot. The Glockners are heavier duty. Meindls can be re-soled.

For £100 you should be able to get a pair of Meindl Burmas in a sale. Brasher Hillmaster GTX are excellent, if a little low on the ankle for my liking.

Don't bother with anything that is not Gore Tex lined. You get what you pay for.

I have had my Meindl's 5 years - admittedly they don't get much use these days, but they have done ALOT of digging, like most weekends when we used to go out with the terriers, stick the pace really well, good sturdy sole, warm as toast, never let the water in (with decent gaiters I've been up to my knees just about in mud, water and **** without any getting in.

Mine were £125 - would highly recommend getting a pair :good:

Wish mine still looked that good - time for some maintenance I think!

Cheers,

Sam

Always being thrifty, I recommend a pair of ex-special forces Gore-Tex lined boots which you can get for just £15 + P&P - a steal, in very good almost new condition, and worth every penny. The best, warmest and dryest boots I have ever had.
