  1. They do look like arrows being that they are below what looks like a bow. They look pretty thick though.
  2. Have you tried ringing Richard to find out where the records are now located?
  3. That’s a really good price for what is a totally underrated gun. Made by B.Rizzini. If I was on the look out for a 12 bore, that’s the one I’d go for. Cannot go wrong at that price. OB
  4. Talking of Air Fryers, I have received two emails from `Sainsbury` saying that I have been selected to claim a free Air Fryer. However, the scam, which I think that it is, you pay a nominal amount for postage and consequently have to give card details etc. Both have been deleted despite the fact that I would love to afford an air fryer Has anyone else received this latest one? Seem to recall similar some time ago with iphones. TV licence one also pops up now and again saying that a problem exists with payment of a direct debit. All promptly deleted. OB
  5. I use Round Up glyphosate and is the best that I’ve found. A 5 litre refill costs around £25. OB
  6. Try Googling Exterminator pigeon floater. Prices around £25.45. I still have a couple of Chris Green floaters when he first started making them and I think that they were about £20 each. Gone up a lot since, They still work well. OB
  7. A very self deprecating post and certainly not what I`ve heard I, on the other hand, am a genuine No.7 but still have my moments I also think in all seriousness, that No.2 is probably the most important.
  8. As said, flight line shooting is one of, if not, the most rewarding types of shooting. Well done for spotting the line and setting up on the grass field which resulted in that good bag and wonderful sport. Thanks for sharing. OB
  9. In my book, that makes for pretty consistent shooting. 50 in 2 hours between the two of you. Many thanks for posting.
  10. Yes, John, I’m pretty sure that an untaxed car invalidates the insurance but prepared to be corrected on this. Just checked this and it’s at the discretion of the insurance company.
  11. Well, John, having already posted that you can get DVLA to send you an email reminder, I thought, out of interest, to go on the DVLA website to confirm that mine is due at the end of August. I`m glad I did as to my horror, I found that it had expired and ran out on 1st.August. A couple of minutes on their website and I`m up and legal again. Can I therefore put this forgetfulness down to old age So I am glad that I looked on pigeon watch today and am grateful to MM and those pointing out that not everyone gets reminders, as I didn`t. So many thanks to Marsh man and other PW members. Incidently, there was a question on there `Did you get a reminder?` with a possible `YES` or `NO` answer, so I`m guessing that the DVLA realise that not everyone is getting a reminder. OB
  12. You can go on line to DVLA for them to send you a reminder for future road tax by email. Sorry cannot do the link. OB
  13. Thanks for your comments. I must admit I don’t normally take photos of the bag as they are never that large, but like you I take the odd shot of the views etc. I try desperately to take videos of buzzards or the odd marsh harrier but am never quick enough to get the phone into video mode. A few weeks ago I had a marsh harrier come over my head no more than 3 metres up which would have made a cracking video, but I was far too slow. OB
  14. Hi John, I had a view of one rebuilt windmill to my left but not one of your Norfolk water draining mills, this was a stock mill for grinding flour. The original one was burnt down a few years ago whilst being renovated by the ‘Windmill Preservation Society’ !!! The wheat stubble I was on will remain for a while as it will be down for spuds next year, so I should get a few more days there. Just the beans and maize (biofuel) to get in now.
  15. I had previously decided that yesterday was to be my few hours out this week having seen a field been cut on Tuesday leaving a nice wheat stubble showing a few pigeons down feeding. The ability to drive to the hide position meant that nothing need be spared regards to equipment and no hard slog carrying gear. I was able to take my swivel chair with backrest (Commander, I think it`s called), an assortment of decoys, hide poles, nets, gun, cartridges and of course a bit of food and plenty of water. I decided to try the whirly and be prepared to replace it with a flapper if necessary. It was left out for the duration. This is a favourite spot of mine as it has a belt of trees giving shade from what was quite a blistering sun. Being set on slightly higher ground, the breeze was filtering nicely through the trees so making my hide position one of the most comfortable I`ve had recently with a lovely view over the marshes where I could see some distant plumes of dust where the combines were getting in the last of the wheat. No sooner had I got set up than the first pigeon arrived which was missed in classic style. There was not a massive amount of pigeons around but sufficient to keep my interest up, with most arriving from behind taking me by surprise. Needless to say, I either had a bottle of water in my hand or some grub and fumbled to get a hurried shot off, some successful, others not so. I missed some really easy ones but was compensated by a couple of real screamers high overhead. I even managed a right and left when two offered a fairly easy left to right approach. My few hours out ended far too soon and I could have stayed much longer in those lovely surroundings, but domestic arrangements ensured that I was back home by a certain time. I ended my short session with 14 and one lost (9 or 10 in the photo and the rest picked afterwards). The other photo shows the great view out over the marshes taken once I had packed up. I was set up by midday and back home by 3.30, so I suppose 3 hours of shooting pleasure. I know that it`s not a big bag in comparison to some reported on here, but in terms of sheer enjoyment this was one of the best days out for me in the last few weeks. My last trip out alongside a rape stubble (now fully greened up with volunteer rape) saw just 5 in the bag when rain stopped play and saw a very soaked-to-the-skin pigeon shooter return home early, so making yesterday`s foray an absolute joy. Thanks for reading. OB

    AUTO RENEW

I think that this sadly is standard practice now with home and car insurance. They rely on people going for the easy option and not shopping around. Apparently, with car insurance, it`s best to start shopping around about 21 days before the renewal date. Leave it any nearer and the premium can increase even with a new provider. I think that I heard that on the Martin Lewis money programme. OB
  17. Not wishing to derail this thread (not too much anyway). I was at the dentist yesterday and this blonde walked into the waiting room with the biggest pair of sunglasses I’ve ever seen. She also had the biggest pair of ….. wait for it…. no, not those… lips I’m talking about. Do these females who have obviously had no amount of Botox injections really think that they look good? They look so bloody ridiculous. Look like the a-r-s-e end of a baboon😂 Not sure whether she had a Chelsea tractor parked outside but it wouldn’t have surprised me. OB
  18. No-one has mentioned the Napier Pro range. I think that the Pro9 retails around £30. They are obviously much cheaper than any electronic ‘in ear’ or over ear device and are non intrusive when it comes to gun mount. I’ve found them better than any other ‘can’ type as they cut out all noise and for someone who wears glasses, this can be a problem with a complete seal over the ears. They are great when shooting alone, but a disadvantage if one needs to converse or hear other sounds such as bird song etc. Just a thought. OB
  19. I would have thought that any two part epoxy resin would do. Araldite being the most well known. I have previously bought ‘Wilko’s’ own brand for my Stickmaking and bottle openers which is less than half the price of Araldite and just as good, but sadly due to their recent problems with potential closure, they no longer have it in stock. OB
  20. I eagerly await the outcome of this thread with interest , or even the explanation. OB
  21. Would that be Bostik Flashband? I’ve used that successfully on a sloping slate roof that met an upright pebbledashed wall. I found by heating it up with a hot air gun it stuck like the proverbial to a blanket and could be moulded to the irregular surfaces. Not sure if it could be painted though. It could just be a quick fix to the underside of Sandpiper’s guttering until perhaps a better solution or total replacement can be done. I await JKD’s comments on my suggested ‘bodge’😂. Come on Chris, I can take constructive criticism 😂 OB
  22. Very nice gesture that and not a blood stain to be seen.
  23. You could try The Shotgun Store owned by Michael Leavold. They’re stock spares for Lincoln (FAIR) shotguns. Tel 0191 4233151 Mobile 07828163897 email info@shotgunchokes.co.uk
  24. I would be only too happy to supply a thumb stick if it was to be used for this purpose
