    Freak accidents

At home climbing the walls with boredom having been on my back since Saturday. Haven't posted for a while so thought I'd post this to either make you laugh or bring tears to your eyes. So was on my derrière doing a simple bit of diy on Saturday and drilling 4 new holes in a kitchen base cabinet to add another shelf for my better half. I finished drilling the holes and put my 18v Makita cordless next to me on the floor whilst I went on to clean out the empty cupboard of wood dust. I stood up and thought before I slide in the shelf I would remove the door so I don't scratch it. I went to take two steps to put the door down so it wouldn't get damaged and as I took my first step I kicked the cordless and went straight down in excruciating pain. With my wife watching and some colourful language I managed to get myself off the floor. There was no blood, just a small puncture wound. As I went to put my foot down I got the biggest shooting pain imaginable and went straight back down again. I ripped off my trainer and sock thinking the sole of my foot was on fire. Nothing there and thought this ain't good. Looked across at my cordless and could see the drill bit had snapped off. I hobbled around helping my wife look for the drill bit which we couldn't find. Missus started doing my head in about going to the hospital so after losing the battle and saying I don't need a hospital I gave in and went. Thinking there is no way the drill bit was in my foot I didn't even let the wife take me and drove myself to A and E. Cut a long story short and having to go under general on Tuesday; it turns out that I'd hit the drill bit bang on, it went so deep into my foot that it only stopped when the drill hit my foot. As I went down taking the drill with me, it smacked down on a tiled floor and the drill bit hitting bone on the other side, I managed to snap off 2 inches of drill bit 1 inch deep. Sitting here mega bored with leg in the air and just wanting to tell you guys to be careful. 30 years of diy and I have the most stupid DIY disaster. If I did the same thing 999 again, I probably wouldn't get the same outcome! Cos

Jobs decent, big a load of work to fill a few holes. I would have stuffed hole with newspaper, then some filler

Secondhand and warranty doesn't mean its been serviced unfortunately. As a rule of thumb, you should always check for service history when purchasing secondhand and if watch is due, then factor that into the cost.Sorry i know that's a little late now you've bought it. How slow is it actually running? Auto or Quartz? What's the model? There is a tolerance for + or - N number of seconds per day which is acceptable, different watches have different tolerances which the manufacturer will tell you is working as designed.

Hmmmm So drunken fights, behaviour and the rest doesn't affect others! I have no issue's with alcohol or how anyone consumes it, I just think its a bit rich complaining about someone sucking poison whilst you drink it
  9. Nothing like making your own mind up Don't listen to the softies with fake manicured finger nails, the seats are excellent. Yes a fishing chair would be more comfortable, but have you tried standing up from one with an 8lb sotgun and in a hurry? I do remember Denny Essex shooting from a "comfy" type chair without standing, went over backwards into the ditch, it was rather funny

Alcohol isn't good for you, should that be banned to? Derailing the thread, are we a society of wingers?

    Watchworks

All depends on which Seamaster, but that doesn't sound too out of the way for a full service. Just a thought, but I would personally only consider the refurbishment if its absolutely necessary for you; Yes it will come back looking like new, but over polishing essentially takes away metal softening edges etc.In time, a well used unpolished watch will usually be preffered to watch enthusiasts, especially if the piece has any significant value.

    Watchworks

Did a quick search on Omega forum, and seems this chap Rocco at Watchworks has a good reputation. Heres just 3 short snippets, but there was loads on the forum where Watchworks is mentioned: https://omegaforums.net/threads/watch-lapping-anyone-know-a-good-guy.59358/#post-737546 https://omegaforums.net/threads/who-do-you-use-to-service-your-vintage-chronos.50353/#post-614600 https://omegaforums.net/threads/early-rolex-6605-datejust-and-other-vintage-rolex-show-what-you-got.42655/page-3#post-510126
  13. Keep buttons and holes clean and they work very well. problem is they get clogged with dirt, mud grit etc, then the buttons start to stick. Time to time I jet wash mine, little squirt of WD40 and buttons are super smooth. Excellent seats in my opinion.

Hi Lloyd If not already on it, join the Omega forum, sure someone there would have heard of them and probably offer alternatives if they don't check out.
  15. The house we live at has very hard water and looking to fit a water softer system for the whole house. I'm sort of getting my head around it, but the industry is like a mine field. Every company will tell you theirs is the best! This is one that I am contemplating and was wondering if anyone can shed any light on what type of system of any dealings with this particular company: http://www.eastmidlandswater.com/Details.asp?ProductID=3608 I'm also looking to put in a water filter system for drinking water, again there is so much out there, it's difficult to make up ones mind. For this I have been looking at this system, even though I won't be using their tap, I would be adding this filtration to a Quooker tap: http://www.eastmidlandswater.com/Details.asp?ProductID=46 Any tips or advice guys?
  16. Rolex is probably the most copied watch in the world. Join a Rolex forum where those boys will spot a fake from photos. They will also point you the best place to find the watch you are looking for or you may find they have their own sellers selling used and new. Watchfinder and Chrono24 are good starting points.

Try to buy an automatic. If you don't know, you tube how the make automatic mechanisms and you'll appreciate what goes on inside. Have a look at the Seiko Divers automatic. https://www.tobydeals.com/en_GB/product/seiko-automatic-diver-s-200m-skx007k1-watch.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuY-3tPqi1QIVRxDTCh1N7gjVEAkYESABEgJvCfD_BwE Great watches in my opinion.
  19. Don't waste your money...... This stuff is made to decoy the decoyers..... Good field craft is all you need and it's free!
  20. Can't see why it would come out, but aerial connection at the back?
  21. If you have a choice of fields to shoot from, I think its a good idea to walk them off and watch for a while to see if they start to trickle back. Obviously this doesn't always work especially if the birds refuse to split and stay in a big flock. I agree that its better to let them have a feed before shooting in the summer, but only a morning feed; I wouldn't wait till 2pm before shooting.
  22. £320 per day!! and that's reasonable That's ridiculous
  23. Great job, but add more than a single coat
  24. Set up hide net with high back and sides to catch them. Magnet stick to pick them up is very good.
  25. You can paint over it the next day.....
