  1. do you need £300 worth of reloading gear to plug 1/2" holes at 100 yrds? i wish people would give a better idea as to why they think they need all that. is it for killing paper or for stopping hearts. I use a 222 that i reload for, i can plug 1/2"@100yrds with a lee loader and lee power scales. takes me 2 hrs to clean and load 50 rounds that will last me a long time if im in the feild or a day if on the range once a month. do i need hundreds of pounds worth of reloading gear to do get what i want from a round! i dont think i do. Phil
  2. group of 5 and then let the barrel cool down. as you have siad the barrel is not floating than this can cause issue unless it is designed no to float. if the barrel should be floating then sandpaper on a socket to float it. 5 shot string and then allow to cool. 50 yrd zero to start that step it out to your required distance. phil
  3. Bought a Pinewood Rotary a few years ago, every thing i have bought from this company has been spot on but you do pay the price for it. ok have has to drill one hole and put a nut and bolt in but this makes it easier to service the bronze bushings and shims but apart form that i dont think you will get a better one. very light weight, only small 7Ah battery needed for an afternoon's decoying. plus hyper flappers fit it if their needed to start with. you do need to be a little lighter handed with them but there is no need to force things in to the ground and then rip them out at end of day. if you do then no matter what you do, kit will not last. Phil
  4. got to local model shop and buy a few lengths of carbon fibre so you have spares.
  5. I have a new pack of 50g blitz kings for you to try if you want them NJC. Phil.
  6. shuuuush! dont tell him that, i want his brass.hehe. I think my set up was £50 but i was lucky in hooking up with some one that knows what their doing and i had a load sorted with in 20 loadings. I was meaning to take a photo of that card as it was impressive. Phil
  7. you can sell your rifle to anyone with and empty 22lr slot on their FAC. buyer and sell need to inform their firearms licencing department, mine is within 7days. you need to fill in the details on the buyers FAC, as well as the moderator if there is one. if you get stuck just copy what it says on yours but check the serial number. mine was wrong and never picked up until i sold one.opps once the deal is done you need to fill in an FAC application form again but this time you do not need to do the referee bit. put down what rifle AND moderator. you dont have to ask for another 22lr, you can ask for more or less anything if you show need for it. because your asking for a one for one change you should not be charged for it but do not lose the slot as you will have to pay next time round if you find you need something else. when i put in for a change i like to add a covering letter just to make it easier on the FLO. if its just to inform that i have sold or bought something then i just email them and ask for read receipt. oh one more thing. if you are changing calibre then dont for get ammo as well. Phil.
  8. half the birds you would normally see are on their nests. now near all the spring sowings are in the birds will move back into the parks and gardens for the next couple of months so its the quite time of year for pigeon shooting. you might find the odd group on hard hit rape, late sowings or pea's. having said that all our pea's are 4" high and never had it so good as there is so few birds about. could be something to do with the 150+ birds i have been shooting every week through the winter. so the winter efforts have paid off. Phil.
  9. thanks for that. i will go check in the morning as to which one it is. Phil.
  10. type into goggle. $21 and then postage ontop. sorry to tell you that. Phil.
  11. thanks but £20 is my offer. i can get from across the pond for £11 and £7 p+p thanks again Phil.
  12. whats the differance between the MK1 and MK11 I have a use one here for £25 but i dont know if its a one or two. Phil
  13. yep. privi's work well. i used them for a while until i got into reloading. if you want to buy v-max then its around £1 a clip, ppu are half that. if you do go for ppu then save then empty cases, im almost out.haha.
  14. I knoq the A-max in the 222 exspand well. i have sent a photo of the one he hit the othernight. he asked me no to post it as it is rather bloody. if you wish to see the way an A-max exspands then ask him for a photo.haha. im just off out now to check zero on the .222 but i hope NJC knows what was happening now. shot to far back is my bet. Phil.
  15. I have use the walking stick on a terrier, i split the bl00dy stick. terrier shouted in pain and 3 kids came running over saying it was only playing. i guess i was lucky it only bite my dog a few times ay! the terrier still runs wild in the park and the kids still play football and dont watch it.
  16. your better of throwing stones and they will be more accurate. i will go and have a look in the rifle shooter book as it says in there about them all. one thing i remember is that it said good for sort range rats, 5-10 meters
  17. It's not the 222 mate or the loading of them. if the wind drops tomorrow i will go and put a few more down it just to check, as you know, the 222 was played with on the range and then i tweaked 1/2" right two weeks ago. i will let you know tomorrow what i find. the A-max dont lose very many arguments, im not telling you anything as i have seen what you can do and i can only dream on being able to group like i have seen you do. it could be something as simple as over analyzing but then what do i know thinking about it, the over hedge fox, he just slumped on the spot and that was with the hornet. I have e-mailed you a couple of photos of how well the a-max expand and i have a photo here of near on every fox i have hit in the last 3 years all with massive exit holes. I will go and check the trip tomorrow as its bugging me two now.lol.
  18. when i first started i had 3 heads down and 2 heads up, full body pigeons. it worked but then 12 half shells made the difference now on winter rape we use 100+ birds plus the magnets, bouncers and flapper. each and all have their day and no two days are the same. in summer i just stick to 12, either flocked half shells and FUD all on high sticks to get above crops, a magnet and a couple of bouncers. in fly fishing its called match the hatch. you need to show them what they have been use to over the last few days. if there is hundreds on the field when your doing reconnaissance that show them as many as you can. if their in small groups then give then a small group. having said that i have gone out with 6 shells, a bit of netting and still had good shooting, just adding birds to the pattern as their taken. crows, always use odd numbers and magpies, use one on a fence post of near the hedge just to give a bit on confidence to the pigeons.
  19. horses will still spook. i have used all sorts around them and they still spook. if it was me i would just borrow a pcp sub 12 or look on guntrader for a cheap one and couple it with a cheap low mag scope. head shots will be easier and you will still be able to acquire the shot as quick. for £250 you should do ok.
  20. Right forget that as it was A-bolt i found the info for at 1:30 lastnight for you. i must have copied the wrong one. E-mail browning. i did have the phone number for a gent that dealt solely with browning. i'll see if i can find it. My god. twice as much in half the size case. unreal. i think you should just get a .260 and be done with it.lol. Phil.
