  1. What a good idea. The Welsh government being Labour run seems hell bent to do something different to the Westminster government just to make a statement. We in Wales are still in lockdown ,with restrictions on travel and shopping, and no easing in sight.Retail and tourism going down the tubes but the first minister and his tribe are happy they are doing it differently to Westminster.
  2. You also need to apply for a special license if you are shooting within 300yds of a special site ,eg SSSI's.,that applies to any bird on the general licence.
  3. First time I have listened to the programme ,so was unaware this was the format. Will listen again. Pl
  4. The question which caused this rubbish to be broadcast by the impartial BBC was asked by Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall,the celeb.food campaigner, who at one time was extolling the virtues of eating game.He now seems to have crossed over to the vegi,or vegan diets. Good reply by Sir James Paice ,a knowledgeable and a good friend of the countryside community.
  5. Not for health which has been devolved. You can travel more than 5 miles to shoot in Wales on crop protection or vermin control providing you have documentation from the farmer allowing you to carry out this service. As for our devolved government, least said the better, but never mind elections next year.Without doubt Drakeford and his ministers are openly anti shooting.
  6. BASC website on coronavirus advice. Also if in doubt contact them and they were very helpful when I spoke to them.
  7. Complete poppycock. If you are on crop protection you can go further than 5 miles providing you have a letter of permission from the landowner or farmer. You can download a letter from the BASC website.
  8. The link takes you a LACS piece about the number of people against game shooting.I think if there was an official survey out there one of the organisations would have flagged it up.
  9. Kenzie Wildgoose man.Brilliant, never get tired of reading it.
  10. No choice in Wales . Can't shoot them without special license.
  11. I would bet it happens in Wales first ,with the lack of backbone government we have.Always the first to role over and quick to hand responsibility to NRW . Alw
  12. I see the person from the New Forest has got his step daughter a job as a guest presenter on spring watch on the BBC.Another thing I can't watch. The BBC is the worst news channel at giving out fake news.No evidence and goodness knows how old the photographs are that they put with these news items.Funny how so few prosecutions there are.People who do take pot shots at any protected bird deserves everything that comes to them and are certainly not doing us in the shooting community any favours.
  13. Backs against the wall, only one way now, come out fighting.
  14. I do hope NRW and Natural England are not reading this.No consultation ,All based on the scientific evidence? So easy to twist the evidence.Let this be a warning to our organisations and the general shooting fraternity.
  15. On WJ Twitter blog they are still determined to go after NRW on the general licence and they mention that if successful they will go for NE and the Scottish equivalent. They are now showing their true colours and are an out and out anti shooting organisation, and it makes no difference what the three leaders of this mob say they want to see the back of any shooting in this country.BASC are going to fight the review in Wales but non of the other organisations are willing to help.,if this judicial review is successful then it could open the floodgates again.
  16. Are there plenty of camp sites along the route or is it best to go B/B.
  17. Welcome from one Southern Welshman to another
  18. All the more reason to belong to one of the organisations. If you pack in WJ have won . Don't give them the satisfaction of people finishing shooting.BASC have registered as an interested party so hopefully will be called on the Judicial review,if they get away with this challenge Wild Justice will no doubt go after Natural England again. The reason they are taking on NRW is they consider the Welsh government as weak and will fold.
  19. The three directors of WJ are twittering today about the demise of the forthcoming shooting season, and that they now have the money to challenge Welsh government about general licences. The three directors are the driving force behind these judicial reviews and do nothing constructive toward conservation. They are left wing activist's who wallow in their own importance.

    Ravens.

Hardly ever saw them years ago but their cronk can be heard quite a bit all over our area.

    Garganey

They drop into a local RSPB reserve late spring but are long gone before the cold arrives.Nice little duck the drake is a handsome thing.
  22. +1 Timex, had it for over 25 yes and never missed a beat. It can be illuminated when needed, handy on the marsh during early morning or evening flight.
  23. I too have an Aya number 3 and have put all sorts through it.A real peach to use and is much nicer than the semi auto I also sometimes use,and it's easier to handle to used cartridge's rather than hunting around for the ejected ones. The Aya project looks a superb gun and I am quite envious.Lets hope the coming season gives all a chance of having a few nice outings.
  24. Just reading Avery on Twitter and he is encouraging people to donate to Wild Justice for their crowd funding to fight Natural Resources Wales on the general licence. At a time when the Welsh government have other things on their agenda these self appointed guardians of our countryside are determined to drag this back to the courts,I do hope the organisations will combine to fight this as they did on the release of game into the countryside.
  25. Rooks can still be shot in Wales but on a special license, which you have too jump through hoops to get. They make it so difficult I fear most people would be put off applying.
