I don't go in pubs, why would I? but the MO is the big give away. Motorcycle bag and phone snatches, plus more violent muggings were virtually unknown in UK seven years ago. It is an "import" from the middle east and Pakistan in particular where it is very common. Although it has always been practiced in Italy to be fair, Naples and Rome in particular. So you have to ask yourself, what has changed in the last seven years in the UK?

There is a massive surge in moped robberies in London and its virtually all done by young men, who came into this country in the back of a lorry from Calais or by claiming asylum on some dubious pretence. All the bleeding heart liberals who were saying we had to let them in on humanitarian grounds will not be so vocal now will they?

My Uncle Harry was sapper Harry Green in no 3 glider at Pegasus Bridge. As such he was one of the very first to set foot on French soil that day

+1 only option is to paint it. The paint will soon peel off, because nothing takes to upvc, but then you put more on. The world is full of women, they are like buses, there will always be another one along soon.

Your doctor won't do anything, because there is no magic cure. You can't get patches or whatever like you would with smoking. My best mate died from it and the best the doctor could say was "its a very common problem" beyond that the medical profession did nothing to help him The only person who can make you stop is you, and the only way to do it is the hard way. You have taken the first big step, you have acknowledged you have a problem. Now you have to get really tough with yourself That is not some smart **** answer its the hard truth. AA is a better route because you get support and also because you realise you are not the only one in the world going through it. The trouble now is your doctor has a duty to disclose anything you tell him to your FEO, that to me is counter productive I know where you live, pretty much anyway. I'm a sort of a long distance local, If you want to talk to me off forum PM me and I will be happy to tell you more, I can help because I have had some very hands on experience in the past.

The Oxford Canal is really lovely, you can't fault it, head south down to Oxford by all means. Yes it is narrower but in a week you are not going that far. Twenty to thirty miles a day tops so just chug along and enjoy the serene ambience. If its your first time its a perfect introduction. North to Braunston and you hit the Grand Union which will be busier.

Yes I have heard of that more than once Most cabinets can be pinged open with a large screwdriver, so the FEO told me when my friend died and we couldn't find his keys. You just have to flex the door enough to draw the latches out of loops that are holding them. Don't try and lever the door open just lever it back, that's what he said. It makes you wonder why we bother with all this security really if that's the case, but in the end we found the keys. I think we are lulled into believing our modern cabinets are more secure than they really are. I believe things were more secure when we had ridiculously large metal hasps and Chubb locks but we were told to get rid of them.

Shooting feral pigeon in my garden.

I agree, its not right but its sensible -
When my friend died FEO told me to phone a local RFD we both know and "get him to make you his agent" That is just a verbal contract. This legally empowered me to take late friend's guns to the shop where they were taken off his certificate, a receipt was issued and we sent that off to FEO with a photocopy of the death certificate and his FAC.

Red paint does fade, my OH's Honda Jazz is showing signs of it but, (and this is not as silly as it sounds), wraps, as figgy said, are becoming so much cheaper and more adventurous you can vary your car's appearance very cheaply, not like a respray

Its a lot harder now but there are always ways round it

The scammers can be very believable. Renting houses or flats on Airbnb to provide cover addresses etc Its not that easy to open a fake bank account these days. I wonder how long it will be before people wake up to the part played by Airbnb in facilitating all sorts of scams and identity fraudsters with temporary anonymous postal addresses

I did the same with a tweed flatcap and realised it was over £100 at a shop in Oban. I thought initially, that's not bad for a tenner! then I looked again. Clothing shops in Scotland are definitely a decimal point adrift. I wanted a Borthwick Tartan tie for a wedding, same shop in Oban it was £40, internet £6, can't say I could see much difference in quality. I only wore it the once plus it avoided the need to wear a ********** kilt which would otherwise have been expected of me.

There is a snobbery factor, my stepdaughter definitely has it. The more you charge the more some people are prepared to pay it. Its a clever, and very subtle marketing strategy, but it does work. I think some customers believe it makes them special people. Why would a woman pay ten grand for a handbag? why does a man pay sixty grand for a watch?

He's just very misunderstood, a slight cultural difference in the way you deal with getting knocked off your bike that's all.

+1 you can never go far wrong with a baikal

I'm all in favour of locking them up and throwing the key away, the trouble is they don't! I can't see why you think execution doesn't work? It has brilliant stats where re-offending is concerned
-
This might work if every tester knows the rules and enforces them in the same way. However, I still remember my mate took his 1960 BSA Bantam for an MOT a few years back and had it fail because it didn't have indicators.

Nobody ever said it wasn't bonkers, but since when has that been a factor? The real world is a long way removed from the ideal world. The real world is about budgets and resources, the kid selling cannabis on the street corner is committing maybe 20 crimes a night. However, the phone in the police station never rings once and "Sid and Doris" in number 27 are totally oblivious to whats going on. Nobody complains, no windows get broken, nobody gets mugged. No crime reports but politically more important, no crime statistics. Alcohol abuse, in its various forms, costs the police possibly 100 times more than drugs (my figures so don't ask for proof) it could even be more than that. From road fatalities to domestics and the Friday / Sat night town centre scenes. I would say that alcohol is the target, forget drugs

not on a 125 you don't ?

Lots of them round here, no pigeons, sparrows, thrushes, finches etc anymore, but lots of kites. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
-
If you legalise drugs, the drug dealers are not going to disappear off the face of the earth, neither are they going to turn respectable and get a job. They will just find other criminal sources of income, the appearance would be a massive crimewave which the police have no way of coping with and it would make them look very bad in the eyes of the public. The authorities like the situation as it is now because, although there is a massive amount of criminality, it is largely invisible to the general population.

The point is she wouldn't be all over the TV and papers if she had said something positive. She's a self publicist

Devon and Cornwall in a motorhome is a nightmare, narrow streets, restricted parking, etc. Been there with a caravan, real rip off South Wales, Gower, Rhossili, mumbles, Brecon etc, very underestimated and much cheaper than Cornwall. 35 of the best 50 beaches in the UK are in Wales and so much cheaper to camp, eat etc
