  1. WOW- seen one of these in the flesh - does it get better than this?
  2. Rubbish bullets I would guess, stick with Eley or RWS if you can get them - btw the RWS HVHP are a superb round if you ever get chance to buy some.
  3. Now there's a coincidence - I have an X type as well - 3ltr v6, one of the early ones in almost pristine condition .
  4. Try demonwolf444 on here - don't think he's far from you and if it it's made of wood and metal and goes bang then he can sort it - otherwise guy on here called barrelblacker does it for a living and never heard a bad word about his work either.
  5. Everything I said in my initial reply applies to the P38 as much as the L322 - ask 100 people about RR and 95% will say "unreliable and thirsty as well as expensive" but I doubt that the vast majority have ever owned one. Only my opinion of course but I have had virtually zero reliability issues with mine and do not find it particularly expensive to run. I do have 3 other cars though so potential break downs are not a major concern and if the RR blows itself into a million pieces tomorrow then I would recoup most of what I paid for it selling it for spares.
  6. Yes, I'm aware of that Tom - but people tend to treat all RR's as the same beast. Rarely do you read "ahh - the l322 was a good car but the L405 was terrible, don't even get me started on the P38"
  7. Now that's one relaxed looking rifle Stu - was that taken on it's Hols this year?
  8. Mines 14 years old Figgy and there is no rust anywhere - underneath looks pretty solid and even the wheel arch area hidden behind the rear doors are unblemished. The l322 tends to drip oil so I'm guessing that a fine mist of that keeps the underneath good! The 02-05 models , when BMW owned LR are regarded as having the best paintwork so that also may have helped. I read all the horror story's about RR ownership but after 18 months of ownership I have had no issues (bar one that was found the day I bought her and the repair bill picked up by my credit card company) and it's like nothing else to drive - the 4.4 V8 will run at, er, 70 mph all day with no sound but a faint hum - after about 5 minutes the car assumes it's on a Motorway and lowers itself down where the ride is like a magic carpet - steady 70 gets you 25mpg, heated seats are like armchairs - even the steering wheel is heated. Saturday before last some daft woman in a merc. backed into me at a petrol station - she's going to need a new rear bumper and boot lid - my front number plate is "crazed" .
  9. Love to know how many naysayers have actually owned one? And how many have their experience from "old Bob" down the Duck and Whistle? The Air suspension compressor is around £300 and you can fit it in minutes - they last around 80k. Exhausts are stainless steel and some body panels are Aluminium - no rust there then. Big unstressed engine can run for decades but the secret is to service regularly and predict maintenance issues before they become a potential breakdown. Consumption is something you get used to but mine only does 18mpg and I honestly don't worry about it - Tax is about £300 / year. Best advice is to get a local non franchised LR specialist to give it the once over - don't ever go to LR themselves unless you want to be fleeced. Buy spares and service parts yourself (Opie oils are very good btw) and then pay cash to have them fitted although a basic Oil service is easy enough to do yourself - my L322 uses just under 9ltrs of synthetic and I can do an Oil/filter/Air Filter change for less than £100. If you buy from a Dealer, as always, pay with your credit card.
  10. Fair enough - but the Law says it's 100% their responsibility - as you say though, not really worth it.
  11. Team tractor - your contract is with Aldi and never the manufacturer - if Aldi want to send it to the states that's up to them - if they wont repair it then the LAW states that they must refund you as long as you have proof of purchase. Ask citizens advice.
  12. Free to anyone that wants it - pm me your address.
  13. One day at a time Sir, the anaesthetic alone can hang around for ages. Each day you should start to feel a little stronger and the improvement can be so minor that you don't notice it but if you take care and don't try and rush things you will get there. Best of luck.
  14. Keep an eye on the cocking Dog on the forend - seen some wear in this area and stop the hammers cocking - spot of grease might prevent future probs.
  15. They will be 70mm and it looks like the "Field" model to me.
  16. As a rough (very) guide - whilst holding the gun at waist level stare at a point on a nearby wall or area and keep your head still, close your eyes and mount the gun so it feels comfortable - do it several times until you find a position that you feel comfortable and easily repeatable - then whilst holding the gun still in your shoulder open your right eye (assuming you are right handed/master eyed) and take a look - if the gun fits then you should see along the top of the rib (but none of the rib) and the bead should be on your aim point - you can learn to overcome small fit issues but if the bead is nowhere near then the gun is not for you. Avoid Trap guns - go for a well known make, Browning etc with 28 or 30 inch tubes and multi choke (cos sooner or later you will want to fiddle) - buy wisely and you could get your money back after a couple of years. Someone suggested a 425 - superb guns.
  17. Had a 302 many years ago and I swear it would have fired a packet of Polo's - so reliable.
  18. If your immune system is, as you say, fubared, then your GP should be prescribing 14 day courses of antibiotics instead of 7 - most GP's don't seem to realise this. As for Thrush there are thing you can do to help the situation "downstairs" - bacteria needs moisture to survive so keep the chap dry - cotton underwear helps. There is another method I used when I used to suffer many years ago that involved making a collar from a single folded piece of loo paper - not sure you need me to go into details as you can work out the mechanics easily.
  19. Small (hand held) cass creek electronic caller - "predator" model CC334 - Rabbit/Rodent/Wood Pecker!/Coyote - free to anyone who wants it, just pm me your details.
  20. As I said . Only needs doing if the existing cylinder pressure is too low to seal the valve .
  21. Ah - the old Zeus book, my one time bible. Used to know the tangents etc of most angles off by heart in my yonder programming days. Never thought I would miss Engineering but producing precision components for the Aircraft Industry (and the Airship that was going to fly regular trips to America) and F1 cars was always interesting . We used to make parts for detecting vibration on Railway lines and I would "invent" a pitch so nobody could produce spares for them!
  22. Got my lad to concentrate on the bird now rather than making eye contact - took a couple of days but he watches the bird 100% now - his marking is near perfect so you were right Lloyd about where he should be looking.
