  1. I don't get it....quite a few replica Black Powder Shotguns have choke.
  2. "Cricket Bat Stock" - on an S410? Just looking at the Walnut offering on my "piece" - stunning, in fact I've had a little sex wee just looking at it - are you maybe thinking of the S200?
  3. Daughters boyfriend had one for the w/end...OMG do they shift but the total silence is unnerving. Imagine being sat in a comfy leather chair then being launched from a catapult and you're about there - the acceleration is just instant and seems never ending, from about 30mph the car was capable of spinning all four wheels with a prod of the pedal.
  4. Most car detailers do it for around £25/lens - mine looked like new when finished and were virtually opaque when he started although it took nearly an hour to finish the job.
  5. Replace the post and spring - no messing around bending the indexing spring which weakens over time anyway - 5 minute job at the most. Don't forget to smear a little grease on the Cam Plate.
  6. Winter months when there are no leaves on the trees and first 2-3 hours in the morning. A bright sunny day after a day of heavy rain seems to encourage them to feed more.
  7. Centre your scope - count how many clicks from one extreme to the other and put it in the middle then try different mounts until you get somewhere close.
  8. Despite desperately needing every ounce of beauty sleep that I can get and assisted by Steroids and black Coffee I somehow managed to slump into the charabanc this very morning and sally forth to the Woods. Propping myself up against a tree and perched upon my folding throne my attempts to explain to myself why I was sitting in a damp and dark copse was disturbed by Squizzer #1 steaming towards the feeder like his life depended on it (ironic really) - he jumped onto the steel ledge and started feeding straight away. I think the slight movement I made as I slipped the S410 into my shoulder must have caught his eye as he froze a moment - just before the 16 grains of lead did, actually, catch his eye and topple him from his breakfast bar. Moving off about 1/2 mile to the main woodland I found 2 feeding at the first hopper (not seen many here for a while) so I sat in my usual place and waited for about 5 minutes before one suddenly appeared on the side of the tree just below the hopper itself and stared at me. Due to last nights frantic cleaning session with a lens cleaning cloth I was pleasantly surprised at just how clear a picture I had of him as I lined him up and thought to myself what a nice picture the scene would make if not for the 2 black lines across his head, but, with a gentle pull on the trigger, he was gone to a far better place no doubt as he became #2 (he was the scrawniest Squizzer I think I have ever shot). Moving to the other side of the woods and noting that quite a few early morning folk were out Dog walking I disturbed more pests feeding on hopper 5 but could not tell how many as I could only see movement through the brush so again the folding perch became my resting place for about 10 minutes before hapless victim #3 did a Greg Rutherford defying leap onto the feeder and paid the price by catching another 16 grains of lead, whilst travelling at a considerable speed, using only his head - the thud was music to my ears . Back home for Tea and Tucker by 9 and apart from a growl from the Dog no-one in the house was even aware that I had been out. In short - out today, shot 3 but told as an Airgun Magazine writer.
  9. Yep - agree with the lids being poor but we don't seem to get any blockages - squirrels have completely emptied 7 feeders in the last week according to my kinda irate estate manager .
  10. All yours John - just to clarify the inside leg measurement - the gusset hangs down quite a way so 28" inside leg is fine - pm me your address and we can sort the postage out later.
  11. Surplus to requirements, JP Jacket and matching trousers - jacket is xxl trousers are xl, good news is that they are free to collect or will post at cost bad news is that the inside leg is only 25" on the trousers cos I had them altered to tuck in my Wellies - saying that I'm a 28" inside leg and they look fine over Wellies. Good condition with no rips or tears and might even consider getting her indoors to throw them in that big white whirly thing in the utility room . I'm a 36 - 38 waist and they fit fine but are elasticated so will go much bigger if needed but check out the JP website if you need to check if they will fit you. Think they are some kind of thinsulate breathable but waterproof material. Located just outside Milton Keynes.
  12. Thanks for explain Mice (I did know exactly what the term refers to but was attempting irony) - who's lying then PS? If you say what you believe to be true??
  13. Well if I'm wrong then I'm wrong, hands up guilty as charged but worrying to hear my FEO agreeing with the website. Don't get the Pork Pies joke though?
  14. Really annoys me to hear ,on some radio stations, the pair being described as a modern day Morecombe and Wise - what an absolute insult to M&W - 2 men who worked their way up and wrote many of their own, funny , sketches - sorry but A&D are simply talentless.
  15. Have a quick read....www.sbftc.co.uk/pages/membership/law.pdf - easiest way to see what the "home of FT shooting" consider current legislation. You are, incidentally Stu, more than welcome to come round for a picnic in my boot.
  16. Who mentioned centre fire rifles?? Have a re-read then have a word with yourself. Speaking to my FEO this afternoon to clear this up....since 2005 the law is exactly as I have stated above so there's your twaddle Stu-please feel free to ring your FEO and tell him that you simply don't agree with the LAW. Asked to clarify your legal position if caught carrying an Airgun in your car, unless actually en-route/returning from a shoot he suggested that you would be unlucky to face prosecution for simply having a Airgun in your Car but if it were to get stolen then you are likely to be reported. He also stated that a Car is considered a public place under current legislation.
  17. As far as I see it the 1968 Firearms Act deems the boot of your car "a public place" so you may not have an Airgun in such a place without a good reason - travelling directly to and from a permission is one such reason. As a footnote with regards to Magazines ( most Air Riles seem to have them these days) - if a magazine is fitted to your gun, even with no pellets in it, your gun is considered "loaded" - if you have a Magazine with a pellet in it anywhere on your person or vicinity, wether it is in the gun or not, your gun is considered "loaded" - for more updated Laws I would suggest you consult your Christmas Crackers at the end of the year as this seems to be the Governments main source of information.
  18. Would it be possible to make them from plastic cases? Drill a hole inside the cartridge base ( after removing any primer) big enough to take a percussion cap side on - With a shell in your gun mark the centre of the pin position then remove the cartridge and drill down to meet your countersunk hole (drill size needs to be pin dia obviously) position a perc. cap side on in the countersunk hole then push your pin down until it enters the perc. cap and thus holds it in place. Then just reload as usual? Bit fiddly but you could make a jig to drill the pin hole in the cartridge to speed things up some kind of rod to place the cap in the hole would be useful. Pin length would be trial and error.
  19. Distinct lack of prairie dogs in Brighton Stu - at any range but as you say - any target popping up at close range (as often happens) is really going to p on your strawberries so there is, in fact, no advantage whatsoever in mounting a scope so high - simply fashion over function. BTW thanks Jamie 1e for your considered opinion - a serious view well worth considering
  20. OK then - just suppose that you were firing from the hip ( bear with me ) but were still using a scope at eye level - the sight line and flight line will still cross at 2 points but the impact point of the pellet would be vastly different either side of these "zero" points - you would need to allow far more hold over/under than you would if the scope were as tight to the barrel as possible. High mounted scope better at longer ranges?? might be but we don't get vermin habitually determined to appear at such precise distances - when using Airguns with limited power and thus loopy flight you need to keep hold over/under as small as possible and allow yourself a better chance of hitting small targets such as Nutty's head within your limited range. ps Winnie and Bezza if you really have a Titanium Focus we need pictures or are you just blowing smoke? pps Just noticed that the OP is from Brighton so cannot help but wonder if he only bought the Bullpup because full length Sequined Gunslips are so expensive?
  21. Basic fact of accuracy is that a scope should be as close to the barrel as possible (line of sight - line of flight), even more important with the loopy low powered Airgun trajectory - how did the designers at FX forget this basic principle unless they were more concerned with appearance than functionality. OK using an M17 on a terrorist at 60 yards with a reasonably high velocity round but sub 12ft/lb on Nutty Nutkins at 30? - harks back to fantasy land.
  22. .25 puffgun with 45 fl/lb? just thinking of the trajectory makes me want to hum "somewhere over the rainbow". As for the S200 being ugly all I can say is that it's main design brief was not winning Beauty Shows but to put pellets in the same place time and time again at sensible ranges and for few Beer tokens - bit like the A10 Tankbuster "ugly, but well hung" as the yanks say. If you want something nice to look at buy a puppy not a Bullpup.
  23. No stu - the focus is lost over muddy terrain or towing a 2 ton caravan on Ice. Rabbit at 90 yards? Any £100 cz 2e can do that as well. Debate on .
  24. Yes please - how would you like payment?
  25. Gay as!! I must be missing something here - unless you have a fetish for pseudo military guns with a view to playing GI Joe in your local woods, what does this gun do at well over a grand that , for example, the S200 doesn't. And lets not play silly games suggesting things like shot count unless you can, hand on heart, say that you have run out of Air while hunting or that old Magazine writers fantasy of being more manoeuvrable in a tight situation (such as the office store room?)....come ooooooon, really? No disrespect to you, dbarnard, but I don't get it and this forum needs a good debate .
