Mans ability to champion inhumanity never ceases to amaze me - got to be honest and admit that I had to fight back the tears......wish I was there at the time. Please accept my apologies Baby - few of us are so pathetic as those guilty.

£41/month? TheMightyPrawn? - that's expensive unless you have a huge claims record.

New Leica binos and warranty/passport question.
bruno22rf replied to gibby's topic in Guns & Equipment
Your consumer rights cover you warranty wise but if free accidental damage is on the cards then I would imagine that registering would be wise - check that it's not a policy free for a year or so and then they expect you to pay for it to continue. -
Er....no UD - a pistol delivering 500ft/lb in one instance but a human is far larger than a Squirrel (larger still, in my case ) and is capable of absorbing a far greater shock than Nutty Nutkins sitting 30 feet away nibbling his Snickers Bar. Shock must surely be taken into account when head shooting using a relatively low powered airgun and a small projectile. It could all be different however if you use those ancient type of Airguns......now what were they called?........Oh yes - Springers

Made by Rizzini, Brodie. (AFAIK) -
Sorry Underdog - I am normally more than happy to read and trust your posts but your statement that " Any imparted shock tears blood vessels and the loss of blood supply to a vital organ is all that is required " is incorrect - in fact there are clearly documented cases where a person has been shot through the chest but died due to brain hemorrhage resulting from the imparted shock - the chest damage would have proven repairable but the brain injury is fatal.

Not preferable Hamster - but if my S410 is only delivering 7ft/lb of energy as it passes through then a 7ft/lb gun would be EQUAL to mine at the range I am shooting Squirrels. winnie&bezza.....that's a Beastly thing to say

JDog - does the J stand for Justin?

Think what people mean ,Hamster, is that the pellet has gone clean through a Target and still retains a considerable amount of energy as it disappears into the blue yonder...often leaving behind a shocked but not dead animal that could have been "more" dead had the pellet transferred its total energy. I have had the unfortunate experience of this happening too frequently over the past few months spent shooting squirrels and have posted on the subject fairly recently. The Squirrels are all shot at a relatively close range (approx. 20 yards) and a standard pellet ( in my case an AA Field) can be heard clearly striking the steel backstop after passing thru the unfortunate animals head - it was not some stupid theory of mine that made me try heavier pellets but rather the site of several still very alive Squirrels (one still upright and walking) fully conscious but with a visible hole both sides of their head. I have settled on Baracuda Hunter Extreme for my particular problem as these seem to work well, but I should add that whilst out for pigeons a couple of weeks ago I came across a Squirrel at a good 35 yards and dropped him out of the tree stone dead with my usual AA Field - so if over penetration is not my problem , what is?

Just out of interest - try wearing a glove on your right hand (assuming you are right handed!) - you could be "hanging" on the trigger, common problem that many shooters experience from time to time.

Mate of mine normally uses a Beretta Silver Pig and has done so for about 4 years. Couple of weeks back his gun was in for a service so I loaned him my spare FIAS Sporterised Trap gun ( a high rib gun that I have had the chokes opened out to 1/4 & 1/2) that I bought from this very site for £150.....you can probably guess the rest.....highest score to date and he was one happy bunny. Moral is - get one that fits you and NOT your wallet.

Why not just buy one off Fleabay? Most seem to run on AA batteries - you could buy rechargeables to cut the running costs.

After trying a locally bought "free range" Egg recently and finding it to be totally devoid of any taste or colour to the yolk (pale, sickly yellow) I decided to try and trace its origin. Following the Salmonella debacle in the late 80's and the resulting "Lion" mark on Eggs along with the obligatory number now stamped on every Egg I thought that this would be a quick job. The website that traces Eggs does not recognise the number on my Egg and a search on Google found no trace whatsoever of the Farm named on the box so I thought I would give Trading Standards a bell to see if they could shed any light on the matter. Turns out that my local TS is now twinned with one in a faraway county and , as I gave the fellow my address, the question "Buckingham, Sir....which county is that in?" gave me little confidence. However, they suggested that I try DEFRA. Finally managed to speak to someone at DEFRA who knew what a chicken was but he said that it was not really their "thing" and that I should speak to the Egg Marketing Board - he would give me their email details because he assured me that they never answered the phone - in fact he had never had a email answered but I might be luckier? Turns out that the EMB closed down in 1971 so that could be why they no longer answer the phone?? Eventually I contacted the APHA (Animal and Plant Agency) who, apparently, deal with these issues. "We do have a couple of ladies that deal with non Lion marked Eggs", I was informed, "but I don't think they can trace them and they don't work Fridays". Contacting them again on Monday the "Ladies" were out of the office and it would be best to email them so I did....2 weeks ago tomorrow and still not the decency of a reply. With all the costs and Regs. forced on the producers of our foods by the Government and the EU isn't it wonderful to see that those in power are doing their bit

Jays but don't really know why.....or any Gamebird.

Softly Softly....tell him your Dad , Mum or Aunt Maud is desperate for some Magpie feathers cos they make their own Flies and would he object if you popped up when nobody was around and shot one. Should get you a foot in the door - next time you see him ( after hopefully bagging a Magpie ) you need to mention that there's hundreds of the blighters around the farm and would it be OK to pop a few more?
-
As long as you have a defined run under the house then a snare or 2 should do the job.

Pretty sure that, offered the right money, the guy would operate on a Beef Burger.

You gotta love a Trap gun ( pattern plate today ) MK38
bruno22rf replied to a topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Not wishing to enter into a pointless debate about chokes so last comment-yes the pattern would be good to powder an edge on clay at 40 yards - but first you need to hit it and the one pellet from a half choked gun will break the clay just the same whilst making it a darn sight easier to hit. Just my opinion mind. -
Take it back...the new consumer rights act covers appearance so you should not have a problem.
-
Agree Hamster but cutting down the Hammer Spring on a Discovery is not exactly Rocket Science surely??
