We used to have an engineering works at the end of our road who would supply us with nuts and bolts if we asked-we used something like 2 8mm bolts and a nut -put the nut half its thread onto one bolt then put as much red match powder in it as you can-screw the other bolt down gently then throw-of course parents these days would think it dangerous but not many of us got seriously hurt.

Could,nt you just empty out a live one and match the powder quantity? When i was a young hooligan i had a .410 that i bought for £4-a folding double hammergun and as i was skint i used to "borrow" 12g shells from a local clay club and reload the .410,s using the components-i used loo paper as wadding and sealed the shells with cardboard and Bostick.Never had any problem with them and they were much quieter than normal shells. How i never blew my fingers off knocking the primers out with a nail and a pair of pliers i will never know.

RWS Subsonic HP .22 any good?
bruno22rf replied to mosa's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Tend to be greasy and pick up grit easily so carefull how you store them-my cz loves them but not as much as Eley extra. -
Try not concentrating on whats been lost but more on what was gained by both of you when you were out together-if you carry on being down each time you think of him you will eventually lose your memory of the happyness that you shared and that would be a shame. You can share your time and affection with any one of the thousands of dogs out there in rescue land that are facing a needle in the near future-ask yourself what your lost dog would have you do?

Allowing for the fact that most people would prevent any sport that inflicted cruelty to animals-why cant we all join.Imagine the caos we could cause if we were to be a sizable portion of their clan. And just how credible would an orginisation such as this be if it were leaked to the press, after a while.that many supporters were the very hunters that they are trying to ban?-bit like the KKK being run by Nelson Mandella.I wonder how the public would see them if the hunters in amoungst them were to reveal that any donations made to the League had been funded by the sale of dead game/vermin?Just a thought.....

bruno22rf replied to davidTOZ's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
I,ve posted this same answer a few times before-buy a box of Eley extra subs and if you get one miss-fire or one flyer i will pay for the box-dont mess with anything less. -

With all due respect,TheDuncan-you,re rats will not all be gone-the majority will have dispersed when the chickens left the "homestead" but some, depending on available foodsource, will be living with you quite happily.Cats leave dead birds and discarded foodstuffs all over the place and roland thus thrives-i have seen rats and cats feeding from the same bowel in a farmers kitchen-the farm cats hunted young rats all night but rarely tackled a fully grown one.As a footnote-we used to use semi auto 9mm garden guns fitted with laser sights and lamps to shoot over a hundred rats most friday evenings-most impressive sight was if you shot one down from the rafters into the pig pens-they were promptly eaten alive as were any that were shot on the run but managed to make it back amoungst the colony.Redarding which pet is the better-my spaniel sleeps for 10-12 hours without getting up and spends the rest of his day either eating or producing odours-maybe i should get a moggy after all.
-
Well known fact-cats attract more rats than they kill.If i knew that i was going to fall down dead at some point i would make sure i was standing next to one of the little *****.

I think that a well thought up name is an asset and says something about the person-i also think that (sometimes) a persons user name gives you a clue as to the type of person behind it-peopole who use simple abbreviations of their names are likely to be no-frills down to earth "get on with it" types whereas those with clever names are those who spend too much time on the internet and not enough out shooting-people who are "newbies" and use stupid names like "pigeon slayer" etc are simply sexually self sufficient-and easy to spot.

They,re not costing anything while they sit there-if you sell you will lose money and most likely line some greedy dealers pocket when you buy another.Every time you see them or pick them up they should remind you of better times-put a price on that?

Always have permission documents!!!
bruno22rf replied to lazarusthealmighty's topic in Help & Advice
I would,nt dream of ringing the old bill to tell them i was shooting-its not a legal requiurement but if people keep doing it then one day it may be.I,ve been shooting over more land than i care to recall in the last 35 years and never carried my certificate or had any written permission. If the old bill want to waste their time and resources traipsing around feilds or sending thousands of pounds worth of wirly birds up to find out what i,m doing then good luck to them-they have to balance the books at the end of the year(shame they didnt send one up when my caravan got nicked instead of telling me "we know where it probably is sir-but its an invasion of these peoples human rights to go and search for it") -
Here,s more luck for you-avoid any GDI shogun.

For sale on guntrader for £220 new.
-
Now i,m getting confused!!-simple-find a gun you like-find a dealer thats got one in stock at the best price(guntrader or gunsmart are good )-contact dealer and pay for gun and give them the fax number of your chosen(nearest normally) receiving dealer-this dealer will then contact you when the gun has arrived and charge you for the paperwork involved(about £25).If you can find someone you trust local to the gunshop that you buy the gun from-in the case of air rifles they can collect the gun and post it to you-could save you a tidy sum. You,ll have to pardon my lack of intellagence, dekers, if i,ve just said the same again-i,m a carrot cruncher.
-
If the local guy turns out to be right-dont forget to go back to Honda and demand your money back.By the way-change spark plugs on my Shogun-mitsubishi quote was £320-bought them from fleabay for £75 and paid £40 to have them fitted.
-
Dont think thats correct Dekers-you can buy a gun over the phone without ever seeing it from any RFD as long as its then sent to your local RFD for collection. This applies to airguns as well as firearms/shotties.You are covered by the distance selling law that states that you can return the item for any reason within a certain period of time (normally 7 days)-you will have to pay return costs unless the gun is faulty or not as described.

Bout 10 years back i was out shooting young Rooks (branchers)-as i was packing up i could hear a light aircraft coming towards the wood and .as i,m "into" planes, i lifted my airgun and looked thru the scope to get a closer look.As i found him in the scope he swerved violently to one side and i heard a loud crack-i lowered my gun to see what was happening and saw a glider right above me with a length of its wing hanging off.The glider then flew out of site (i later found out that it made it back to its airfield). The light aircraft however started to increase its engine speed to what sounded like full throttle and climbed as it turned away from me-the curve continued until the plane had done a complete back flip into the ground with a huge thump that i felt thru my feet-it crashed less than a couple of hundred yards from a local cricket match. It took the fire brigade just short of 6 hours to dig the body out.Unreal and unforgetable when it happens right in front of you.

No worries-good luck with the new gun.
