  2. I am selling my gun cabinets having upgraded. This is a Brattonsound 5 rifle cabinet with a separate internal locking section for ammunition and rifle bolts etc. It is in good condition and comes with two sets of keys. £150 collected from Rushden, Northants
  3. I have one of these, albeit a slightly different model. Excellent, handy and accurate.
  4. Ok. I have a cabinet I'm looking to move on. Ill send you specs and pictures tomorrow
  5. Do you ever head anywhere near Northants?
  6. The sales section is for the use of established members. Once you've been on for a while and have contributed to discussions it will become available to you.

    ANY IDEAS

  8. I would be extremely unhappy to have received that tone of response. I've been in two minds as to whether to pursue this matter, and things like this really dont paint the management in a very good light at all.
  9. Not sure yet. We have quite an ornate brick built fireplace in the lounge which I dont want hacked about, so the decision is going to be led to an extent by that practicality
  10. I have/have had both in my old house and where I am now. Whilst I too love an open wood fire with well seasoned logs, the only time I would actually choose an open fire is for burning bituminous coal. I bought a couple of tons just before the ban on sales came in and once that's gone I'll be fitting an inset stove for wood and smokeless. If like I did for a few years you need a main source of heat (I had no central heating for a few years), then a multufuel stove is the way to go. You can also burn sparky wood more safely in a stove making using free wood much easier and more productive if you wish, and multifuel gives you the option of good quality smokeless which makes it possible to keep a fire in for months if needed with no messing about.
  11. Loads of articles if you google it
  12. This. Great news for my old English guns, provided they do the business and wont break the bank.
  13. Agree. It makes me cringe when new members are given a going over for no particular reason. I hate to think how many have tried to engage but got nitpicked for some petty faux pas some bored regular perceived in their approach, and so left never to return with a bad opinion of us all.
  14. As of 29/10/21 gun sales for private individuals* are free on Pigeonwatch. To list a gun for sale, please start a new topic in Guns for Sale (Private). As a minimum, all listings must contain an unambiguous asking price, and similar to other sales, guns may only be listed once every 21 days. Any adverts not containing a price, asking for offers without a price or which are relisted within 21 days will be removed without further notice. Please note that the following is not permitted to be advertised and will be removed: Blank firing guns of any type (including starter pistols) Replica guns Airsoft guns Deactivated firearms * individuals selling their own guns. RFDs, gunshops and other businesses who profit from sales of SGC/FAC/airguns including reconditioning guns to sell on must apply for trade membership to access the Trade Sales subforum
  15. My 13 year old Chesapeake started getting lumpy a few months ago. My wife and I agree that we would rather she have months of carefree fun than a year of her getting jabbed and prodded.

    Auditor's

The thing these trogs all have in common is a hilarious mix of massive over-confidence and being about as sharp as a whale's forehead
  17. Another interesting point and one that I recognise. Whilst I understand that some get a lot of pleasure from documenting their forays, others don't and being on a forum like this is more for discussions around other aspects of shooting. Other than driven boar and one particular beaters day a few years ago where the light was incredible, I struggle to think of a time in the last 10 years where I've reached for a camera. It's interesting (or at least I think it is) to note that it's usually the same people who produce reports and comment on other people's and I believe that this is because some are interested and enjoy doing so and some arent. Not that different to those who might turn straight to an article on a stalk or driven day in shooting times vs those who want to read equipment reviews or technical info.
  18. Interesting thread. I think all of the reasons so far put forward have merit. I'd also offer a couple of others for consideration, the first being that whilst PW clearly started out as a dedicated forum for pigeon shooters, over the years the remit has broadened to almost all other types of UK shooting and beyond and has become much more of a general fields ports forum, as is illustrated in some of the responses here. Another, less positive factor is that for a period a few years ago we unfortunately attracted one or two large egos who wanted everything to be a competition and discussion about how they knew best and this had a measurable impact on the willingness of especially new or less experienced shooters to post reports and then face the inevitable gauntlet. Thankfully that's less of an issue now as they have moved on but it has definitely had a longer term effect because who knows how many new members were pushed away with a bad experience, never to return. Facebook is definitely another factor. It's format makes it suited especially for people who just want to post a picture and a brief comment rather than more detailed discussion.
  19. I think when they were merged the wrong box was checked, and it doesn't give the option to change it back unfortunately
