  1. Don’t even get me started on this, for the Honda the front discs were on there way so had a look and they were eye watering for a new set so had a look online and got down to just under £100 then cross referenced some part numbers and ended up with a new pair because it had a rover part number first for £32 Even had the Honda part number listed on there. go figure!
  2. .22 Rimfire might be a good fit..................
  3. Last one I used was a live capture cage type rat trap, it was on the ground to get some rats but the squizzers loved going in it.
  4. Just used one the other day, they used to have clear glue and I did have one come apart in one section after a while but the more recent ones I have used have a black coloured glue and it goes off stupid quick and holds up much better.
  5. Coovar suregrip is the best stuff, used quite a lot of it and other brand stuff and always end up back using this stuff, if you get it on you it will take weeks to get it off! just make sure you go to a proper paint supplier and get them to put it in the shaker for a minute before buying it as it saves the elbow work of mixing it by hand.

    Neowise

Stayed up to try and see it last night and it was really quite faint to the naked eye, just a blur really but with a 20 second long exposure it came out quite well.
  7. Stick a filled hot water bottle in the freezer the night before work. Where you put it is up to you!
  8. Make them do it in full NBC kit.
  9. Not sad at all if they go, they played the big bully game with suppliers and in the end quite a few brands refused to deal with them mainly because of de valuing there brand and demanding huge trade discounts. having run a outdoor shop for 15 years and having a bigger specialist range than them and still having customers say to my face that they will go to go outdoors as it’s bigger (the building) last time I went for a look it was half empty of stock and some the advertising signs were incorrect or had misleading information on them which shows how much the staff care or simply don’t know about products. oh and now I work on a campsite and plenty of people will happily bin a tent, air bed, sleeping bags, stoves and everything else after one weekends of use. It’s shocking.
  10. So are we changing the name of the forum to mole watch then?
  11. Msr fuel bottles are the best you can get, will withstand a huge amount of abuse and can be stashed away until needed. I have one bottle with fuel that’s 4 years old and it still burns and am going to see how long it lasts before going totally off!
  12. That’s when you get the big screwdriver out.
  13. Don’t know if it’s the same for all brands but my Nikon from years ago has the same menu and layout as my other half’s modern one and even the same basic layout as my big slr so might be worth keeping to the same brand as the layout could be what you are used to.

    New to CB radio

Come to Bradford, there is a guy on there yakking to his mate all the time and always putting the world to rights, mostly Racist stuff and drunken ramblings
  15. Thanks for the drawing and explanation, I have just got it all wired up and it now activates the relay and it buzzes away happily when there is low coolant. now to fix the leaking pipes!
  16. That’s a real shame I have had a few scares mostly with welding up vehicles and learn pretty quick that if you can catch a small fire and get it out then a fire extinguisher is a real saver. 2kg foam is a minimum if your going to do it or 6kg foam is better. Powder is ok but does not get the heat out of what’s burning and the piddly little ones are next to useless on anything larger than a box of matches.
  17. It is wired up so it has a positive output, don’t know how just took readings off it by testing the leads, it seems to be switchable by changing where the ground goes in. I found a cheap relay on eBay to try. brown is + yellow is + output for low water i think I wired blue for - input
  18. The led if from my parts box so don’t know the spec but it’s quite bright when fed 12v direct, it was for lighting up a number plate originally. I have had a look at a similar relays spec and it states 150ma for the coil so it looks like I will have to find one of the relays mentioned above.
  19. Buzzer and led are separate, the buzzer is robbed off a old warning circuit for tow at electrics and it works when hooked up to a 12v supply. I found this on the net with the specs, XKC Y25 T12V PRODUCT INTRODUCTION:  Input Voltage: DC 5-24V  Power Consumption: 5mA  Output Voltage (high level): InVCC  Output Voltage (low level): 0V  Output Current: 1-50mA  Response Time: 500ms  Operating Ambient Temperature: 0~100 Celsius  Sensor Thickness (sensitivity) Range: 0-20mm  Communication: NPN  Humidity: 5%-100%  Material: ABS  Waterproof Performance: IP67  Operating Principle: intelligent non-contact liquid level sensor is for detecting whether there is liquid by water induction capacitor. When there is no liquid to approach the sensor, sensor will generate certain static capacitance because of the capacitor distribution; when the liquid rises slowly to approach the sensor, the liquid parasitic capacitor will coupling to this static capacitor so that the terminal capacitance of sensor will increase; the changing capacitance signal will be input to control IC and achieve signal switch, then transform the changing capacitance value into variation of certain electric signal. Using certain algorithm to detect and judge the degree of the variation; when the variation has surpassed certain threshold value, then it means the liquid level reaches sensing point.
  20. Yeah I have tried two relays and nothing, even the led is dim.
  21. Hi I have just bought a sensor to warn of low coolant in one of my vans and I have got it working but I have a issue with the trigger wire. its a 12v circuit which has a output that goes live when no coolant is detected so the plan was to use the output 12v signal to switch a relay to sound a buzzer and led. The problem is the output has enough amps to just about light up a led and not enough to work the relay. so I need a way to either boost the output or would a lower rated 6v relay Work? any ideas?
  22. For sale is a tirfor project that I have no time for, it sort of works. I have tested it with a bit of cable and it pulls in but on reverse it only lets out cable a tiny bit at a time so something needs sorting. It was really stiff when I got it so it’s been dosed with oil and now moves better so I thing it’s just something on the inside that needs freeing up to get it working properly. winch only no handle or cable. £35 collected from Pudsey or I think I can post it but it will be around £15 as it’s a right heavy lump.

    Pellets

There was a bad batch going around the other year where they were oversized and jamming in barrels, I bought a load in the hope they would work in the older larger bsa barrels and they do work ok in them. I did measure the head and they were quite large. the shop I got them from was selling them off at a couple of quid a tin.
  24. Sounds like a BSP/npt issue, a lot of the Chinese cheap hoses are npt, difficult to tell as I think it’s just the pitch that’s different.
