  1. Last weekend me and the missus went up to John O'groats in my Mk1 Escort just for the Hell of it. We drove back down the great Glen and through Glencoe. I said to the missus that I have been all over this planet and taken her along most of the time, I have never yet been anywhere more stunning than this and she was reading a book. I said I don't mind you reading a book but by God you are seriously missing out. Only downside is the weather can be a bit iffy. Doesn't bother me but a bit of Greek sun would be nicer this year.
  2. Paypal account usually.

    buzzards

Plenty of Buzzards, Kestrels and Sparrowhawks here. Also plenty of Woodpeckers of all colours and many other species of birds. Can't understand how they got here because I am a farmer and if the RSPB are to be believed we generally wipe out all bird species.
  4. Got the same email last Weds, turned up today.
  5. Puzzled you should say that, there were shedloads of guns for sale as well as other stuff. I spent a fortune (including a gun) and enjoyed doing it. Didn't buy any candles or remember seeing any.
  6. Stopped 11 months ago and have to say my sense of smell recovered very quickly (not always a good thing!) My smokers cough disappeared straight away too. Put on weight but I have now made efforts to get rid of that too, lost over a stone in this last month. No massive fitness and diet routine, just cut out bread more than anything. Anyone wanting to lose weight I can recommend "Myfitnesspal" app for iPhone. It can't make you lose weight but it lets you know where you are going wrong. Healthwise I feel no different through losing weight or stopping smoking, I think I must be healthier though. I smoked 50g of Golden Virginia a week and have smoked for 40 years or so. (started at 8 ) Only cost £15 a week so not noticed anything there. Reason I stopped. For my Grandchildren. Strange because I don't have any. ps. I still miss a smoke but its easy to resist.
  7. Not sure what that means. 20 Monday 21 Tuesday 2 Wednesday 13 tonight 2586 plus Redditch's I think.

  9. I would think there's a damned good way to encourage a seal "incident".
  10. Thanks for the offer but have collected off Hoogs this evening so I'm now fixed up. Massive thanks to Hoogs for sorting me out so quickly and only had to go a few miles to get them. I was really gutted to have lost mine after so long of owning the gun and was equally made up when a replacement was offered. Thanks again.
  11. Anyone got one to sell? Lost mine tonight after over 40 years ownership, gutted to say the least.

    Water Butt

I was in the outback in Oz not long back, the only drinking water there was the rainwater saved off the roof. No Britas either. The ranch owner asked how much water we had, I admitted not only to having no idea whatsoever but also to the fact that the water might run out had never entered my head. I was so used to the fact that we have a pretty much guaranteed limitless supply here that running out wouldn't ever be considered. He told me his tank had got down to the last foot once. He also told me he asked his neighbour if he could fill a 45 gallon drum with water and he refused. Very different to anything we have ever known here. I did say to him that the frogs sounded quite high up in the evening so the drinking water tank must be fairly full.
  13. My Aunt and Uncle were driving home along a local country road when a cattle wagon appeared around the corner and was heading straight for them. My Uncle slammed his brakes on and pretty much awaited for the inevitable crash, but then the wagon disappeared. Neither of them are the sort to make this stuff up and if they say it happened I have no reason to think otherwise, no matter how hard to believe. Neither of them said anything of the experience for months to anyone until my Aunt mentioned it to a work colleague that lives in that area. Oh she said that is such and such, been dead for years and regularly seen on that bit of road. Swear on my sons life the above is true, make of it what you will.
  14. I'm not religious nor is anyone else in my family. I quite often hear footsteps upstairs when I know I'm the only one in the house. I have even gone and looked but never seen anything. A friend suggested it could just be the house creaking as it cooled down, that implies it must have been warm in the first place. There might well be ghosts in my house but I am not very sociable with real people never mid ghosts.
  15. I'm from a farming family and we own a few haunted houses. Never seen a ghost but a couple of my cousins tell me of odd goings on, there are ghosts in their houses without doubt. These are ordinary sensible mature folk who have no reason to be fanciful or make stuff up. It is just one of those things as far as they are concerned and I am quite happy to believe them. They have all experienced folk at the end of the bed, strange lights, objects moving, stuff rearranged etc. None of it scary, but can't be explained away.
  16. Gut a hare, after that rabbits smell nice. Beats me how anybody can gut a hare and then eat it. I've gutted loads of rabbits, used to sell them at auction but I can not honestly say I ever got over the smell. They do stink in my opinion.
  17. Pretty much what I do. I rarely answer the landline and usually regret it if I do. Anybody that I want to speak to has my mobile number.
  18. My son said something to me about his inheritance, I told him he had best keep his fingers crossed he doesn't inherit a debt. He said if he did he would be digging me back up. Always puzzles me why folk want to leave their kids summat, aren't they better off finding it themselves? That's what I think anyway. Don't be thinking I don't think much of my son, I think the world of him.
  19. Chain smoking does help.
  20. Very much prefer a hammer gun and have had mine 30 odd years, its the ones without hammers I struggle with. What do you mean "how do you get on"? I expect it makes very little difference what you use once you are familiar with the gun, it all becomes second nature, probably why I struggle with non hammer guns.
  21. log out and log back in again usually sorts it.
  22. I've done all sorts of weird and wonderful things in the pursuit of "fun". Shooting rabbits with my old BRNO is still way up there, head shooting them even better.
  23. There's a free program on the internet that lets you print big pics onto A4 sheets, you just join them together and use it as a template. Can't think what the program is called, some weird name. Edit: here you go, not the one I was thinking of but does the same. http://www.blockposters.com/
  24. Rub some comfrey ointment on it, it will mend quicker.
  25. I live in the sticks and have this **** all the time. Things to do are reset the router, swap the filters on the line, plug the router into the master socket. (take cover off main/first socket, you will see another socket inside, using this disconnects any extensions) If you ring them up they will tell you to do these things anyway. Sometimes the line resets itself after a few days and all is well again. Noisy lines will cause it, is your phone crackling? After all that ring them up and complain. Or do what I have done and buy a mobile broadband dongle for the times it just drives you mad.
