Brilliant Stumpy When I'm back at the weekend I shall take the old ones off and get new ones made up--- then again, maybe I shall go and measure up now so they ready for when I'm back :-)

    Norfolk boaters

Have received news from the Broads Authority that I don't need a BSS certificate as it will be for only occasional use only- although I think I mention the isn't a cuddly or gas, the onboard nature of the engine and it's fuel cell location would:could have meant a BSS survey Probably good that I don't need one as I left contact details with some inspectors and heard nothing back. This morning have just finished off checking the breaks and bearings- was a new axle fitted and noticed the orientation of the drums was wrong Need to grind off the old brake cable mounting point and re weld in the correct place. Just hoping the tyres last the long trip? Weather permitting we hope to they Cantley next week whilst the kids are still off school, then again prob best not to have em in case it breaks down from lack of use :-) The gas struts that hold up the engi cover and one v small one on a forward locker have gone- need to find a supplier or somewhere that makes em Thanks for all your help and comments so far
  4. Please allay my frustrations please fellow PW's This morning the wife dragged me to a Brocante which is the French equivalent of a posh car boot sale. She was looking for Art Deco and I was just looking for an escape route.... Anyway, came across some 'wall hangers' of which one was a Damascus barrelled sbs hammer in something like 16guage Slightly rusty barrels in the muzzle area but sure they would have scrubbed up Woodwork seen better days and stock had a metal butt plate too Quite nice engraving and an unusual ( well to me) hinge mechanism in that the foreend wood work was hinged to provide the hinge point. Not only was it a wall hanger but also full capable of still functioning ( prob have used pyrodex or similar) Couldn't see a makers name and he wanted 130 Went back to the stall twice but didn't get it for some reason- love the fact that this was for sale there and several other stands had others Inc a 9mm garden gun Ok, so nothing special except them Frenchies don't believe in SGC's for some things. I don't even know why I'm writing this except its on my mind that I might have missed something nice to add to the collection. Have brought back plenty of 'licenced' firearms on my EFP but not sure how you would get on with a wall hanger that's still in obvious functioning condition?
  5. I sort of like it ( not the convertible though) Sort of reminds me of a Toyota FJ and Skoda Yeti. Sorry folks, progress means the old Landy/Rangy will never exist as we knew them
  6. It's the fact that it's listed as being on 18.5"

LG You remember the name. The ability to park the trailer is a bonus. Have a feeling we will use the boat more this year in Norfolk than the last 8 years here.

No probs with our v shallow draft hull ( only need 35cm depth) Height wise with Bimini down is also on 1m Looking at Ditchies recommendations of Cantley with a pootle down to Breydon then a blast before tootle back. Been working on the boat all day as it's sat here slowly glazin in the extreme sun - not worried as not structural, shame it's not been kind to some parts and the lovely non slip foam matting has gone like charcoal. Still, polishing machine next then brakes to be checked before the 1000mile tow back during the week. So prob the week after next for its maiden Broads voyage. Need to find a temporary insurance coverage broker as not sure if we're keeping or getting something more river orientated--- we used to have a lovely Four Winns motor cruiser but had to sell to pay for renovations on the house, plus we went using it enough to justify

Thankyou for all your replies. I didn't think Breydon water was de-restricted. Be nice if it's not as our Seadoo boat is exactly a deep v hull to handle coastal waters.

If I sail down to Yarmouth we could call the title 'Norfolk Bloaters'--- sorry to all Yarmouth residents. Have sent of an email to the Broads authority too. Potter Heigham sounds good as like to back track along to Horning etc. Cantley? Is that just a straight waterway to Yarmouth? Must admit that I'm not familiar with the waterways except for Wroxham to Horning area from many many moons ago. Wished to open her up a bit but see the skiing/powerboat restrictions are a bit harsh and can't even open the taps without a skier on the back... hope the little boats going to be ok at idle all the time?
  13. Bit of local knowledge please. Bringing our little boat back from France this week and plan to use either on the Broads or sell on? It's only 4.56m long and yes I know I will need a Broads Authority river Licence. But, where can I launch it for free ( or small fee) and also where is good to leave car and trailer? Many thanks
  14. Make sure in setting -keyboards- is set to UK102 or something like that. It's actually more than 10 years since I switched to MAC so the above is all guesswork from memory. Sorry I can't be more specific

    Ugly house

I didn't think from any of the posts that someone is 'showing off' What would I change? Windows to sage green ( get rid of those silly Georgian bars) Front door dark Render painted in light primrose or equivalent and get rid of those ugly alarm boxes - sleek Texecom one in their place. Hanging baskets are too 'George n mildred' If I had the cash though how about- Re roof in terracotta type roof tiles Windows sage green And top half of the house in Sussex hung tiles and lower remove the render.
  16. The Mrs dragged me outside to take look. In the space of 30 odd mins we saw 3 fairly faint meteors and four much brighter- one in particular seemed to last a couple of seconds with an amazing trail, like watching a a firework. I've come back inside and left her to it.
  17. Thank you Peter very useful Will send you a PM later once I have checked out which powders we have in the 'box' Know I have some Swiss but think it's RS70, I know I have two tubs of Vectan SP7 plus Viht in two flavours too.
  18. Ban me mods for this but *** ( 4 ****s sake) It's not millions for starters, secondly it's not the EU's sole fault for our higher Immigration ( been going on for more than 75 years, well before the EU was even around). Ill informed, bigoted and often a total lack of understanding of Global finance and Politics ( no, I'm no expert but at least I admit it) Am I a 'moaning remainer' , nope, but I'm sick and tired of non factual arguements being used to belittle those who do wish to remain as part of the EU. If your all so good with your keyboards then maybe check out the facts regarding 'Funding, Contributions, subsidies and my Legal Profession Stepsons favourite-- EU policies and legalities and our rights of Adoption Anyway, hate to let facts get in the way of a good discussion and god forbid someone disagree and maybe wish to form a Political Party that is not in line with your views I used to enjoy PW and it's 'Off topic' section, now it's either anti RSPCA, Chris Packham, BREXIT or similar
  19. Yes My 10/22 takedown that I had from new did this- slightly clipping any mod we tried. Returned it to Chris Potter who sent it off. Was returned with a new mod spigot as the original fitted was out of square- was told they had a few like that? Is the barrel screwcut on yours or does it look like s screw in spigot? Mines fine now thankfully but you shouldn't have to pay a gunsmith on what is possibly a manufacturing defect ( think the Consumer Rights Act applies for up to six or seven years if it can be proved to be there from new)
  20. Our Volvo has it as std Think our Nissans did too but can't honestly say

Me? I'm laying here in the sun by the pool reading your PW postings :-) Kids are having a ball with their 'rediscovered toys' and mrs is reading some 'girlie' book in the pool.......... But when I get a moment once the garden is up to scratch again ( the prob of not visiting for months) the book that I have just started is Masters of War by Chris Ryan. Enjoy the read AVB

    Stud wall help

Expanding foam does work but two provisos. 1, don't use on an external cavity as breaches the thermal barrier and also causes a 'wick' to encourage dampness from out skin to inner. 2. Some expanding foam is so powerful it can 'pop and now' out poorly affixed plasterboard
