Davyo Is not having a PayPal account a bit like not owning a colour tv? Everyone has one. Buyer/seller protection is probably why its preferred ( unless your Ebay and taking a cut ( in addition to ebay fees too)) The self employed aspect, yes I remember reading about that I the press a year or two back- some people were running 24hr full time operations from their house. What is the the distinction between being a trader and selling / buying items in a site such as eBay? Is there a turnover threshold.

Doesnt stop them making the payment via PayPal as The OP has discovered. Im guessing by abiding by Ebay t&cs that if you now have to accept PayPal or not be able to sell then this will crop up more and more?

Thanks Gordon As stated, it’s been a while since I sold anything. Does this requirement not smack a little bit, forcing you to accept a form of payment which is beneficial for a partner of the the selling website!

Not sold recently, but in the payment preferences of the listing part, can you not stipulate what is accepted? So if you don’t tick ‘accept paypal’ Then unless the person independently has your email address can they pay you.....
  7. Bruno The letter was sent recorded delivery, but with the interim contact I agreed to let their ‘smith’ take a look. It’s not that I don’t like the gun, just don’t like not being able to get a single ‘course of fire’ completed without looking like a muppet. Tightchoke, they took the gun on Wednesday and promised me contact in a couple of days. If I don’t hear anything by Monday then sure, name and make/model will be forthcoming...... Has been said about using ‘hotter loads’ , why should I when the supplier placed a video on YouTube stating it would cycle on ‘power reds’ which are 27grm 7.5’s and ive tried everything up to 32’s. The dealer on the phone said I should only be using 36’s—- hmmm, strange conflicting advice and a bit limiting, yet alone pricey.

Mickyh I think your confusing the two posters? Me Matt is the one who commented on my thread regarding the ‘Judge’, Graham M is the poster with the sales /PayPal disagreement. For me, yes, Ebay and PayPal fees have got to such a ridiculous level that it really makes us look at other avenues/outlet for sales. What I think Graham M should have done is, when listing and accepting forms of payment, indicated that it was cash on collection only- it’s a lathe, even the lovely Myhermes wouldn’t be delivering that, so collection was most likely the only method? This would have negated the situation. Regarding payment and tardiness, was a time for payment stipulated in your listing? It’s frustrating I know waiting for someone to pay, I alway try and pay as soon as the listing ends, but due to working away it’s not always possible. Maybe your buyer placed their bid at the commencement of the the auction and then was away on holibobs, returning to find out they had one and then proceeded to pay via the method they thought would give them the greatest buyer protection?
  9. It only supplied by one or two so bit diff to say
  10. Update Yes, I do wish it had been purchased using a Credit Card. Is it purely an ammunition problem? Well, I have tried long brass-short brass and loads from 28 to 36 and still the same problems. If every time you used your gun and it jammed I think you would be a little peeved too Three parts which I was inform by the supplier as being dodgy have been replaced already I even checked out the manufacturers FB site and on there are dis-satisfied customers who are also having reliability issues. Its quite possible that the retailer is on here and will by reading this put two and two together- but as I said to them, its not a Whitch hunt- just wish to be able to utilise it for its designed purpose. So far I have been offered/have had, the gun collected in order to rectify or in extreme circumstances-replace. Problem is, even the latest models are receiving the same bad press. Was rather curtly told - dont threaten me with the Consumer Rights Act and I will repair/replace, but your not ever going to have a refund. My reply as it has always been, its in writing to give me the correct legal footing and is in no way a personal attack. Now l await its repair ( was mentioned that have had to replace others guns too, so its not isolated is it). Will try it and if not correct I shall once again send the letter, updated to say they have it for repair and it is not fit for purpose. Will update as and when things happen
  11. AS mentioned Foot in the door regarding obtaining an FAC in my opinion would be for FAC Air rifle. Your more likely to obtain permission one for smaller land allocations and most landowners that I know view would be that if Im allowing you to use your SGC, then an air rifle is def not a problem. A newish shooter asking to use a centre-fire is a different kettle of fish. Now, once you have that FAC, then at your leisure/experience, apply for something else. Thats my view anyway
  12. Not by much if you go for the full package :-)
  13. Shortest is not always quickest, esp when you offer the route planning to the satNav
  14. Fantastic news for you both. Put my two to bed tonight and payed with them for almost an hour just gazing. Gosh how time flys so enjoy every moment.
  15. 30000? Are you sure!!!! Thought it was 29869 when you last carried out your own census On the positive thats a lot of Heather being grown and harvested, so some good job creation. Judging by the comments then by my reckoning EDLs coffees must be swelling daily. Maybe they are not declaring all of their earnings ( most likely under the current tax free amount anyway, but dont let that alter your mindset), but they will be spending that money back into the economy ( yeah yeah, some will go to relatives overseas). Now, what about blogsy who couldnt care less as he is white British and feels a sense of entitlement to all the benefits going- those benefits come from the Welfare budget which guess what, is paid for by taxation. So in effect, even though they may be putting it back into the economy via means such as Sky tv/fags/Wetherspoons and Nike trainers. Its ALL being subsidized by us The constant reference to Ethnicity and/ or Religion, is most likely why tensions run so high everywhere. The why not me generation has vastly changed peoples expectations and desires. Seems to be that everyone wants minimum effort for maximum output- except maybe those hard working souls who can be bothered to carry out labour that others feel is beneath them......
  16. Thanks Walshie We will see, took a bit of sleepless night research to deduce that the max limit of claims under the act or to bring about a claim is six years. I’m literally just a couple of weeks over a year and have only been able to use the gun four times ( it’s not the sort to be able to blast around at the local clay club). But we will see on the outcome, if anything it will be nice to see how their Customer commitment really is?
  17. All paid for by Bank transfer. Have been ‘handed over’ and told that they will fix it as they have done so for others!! Others? Now that really made me feel better about the gun. So I’m afraid to say that a letter of intent under the Consumer Act has been dispatched- I probably wouldn’t even accept a like for like as I don’t think even the latest generation are up to scratch from the reading I have been doing..... Baited breath awaits the next seven days.

    Car Salesmen

It’s a known sales formula and one that I walk away from every time I come across it. Bloody infuriating and like a comedy act
  19. Can’t remeber if I paid the deposit by card, think I paid the balance by bank transfer though. Will have to check my emails
  20. Reply from the dealer just now was essentially “I’m packing it in and pass it onto ,x,”, I’m guess ,x, is a business partner as the persons email address has the same company name? I officially put it that I was going to go down the Consumer Rights Act 2015 as I felt that having already had attempts to solve the problem it would just be a waste letting someone have ‘a play’ at fixing it when I have lost all confidence. Sincerely hope it doesn’t get messy, but why should a purchase of a firearm be any different than say, buying a new car “oops Sir, sorry it won’t change gear! A lot of them do that but we think we might be able to solve it” Guess I have my grumpy head on this week......
  21. Thanks Tetlee Funny how my original email was answered promptly but when I posed the Consumer Rights one they still haven’t replied ( yes I know it’s a Sunday evening but they replied to the earlier one). More I read online the more I’m convinced this model is a ‘dud’ and should have some recourse
  22. Little bit of advice please from those in the know. 13 months ago I purchased a particular brand of firearm from a certain company. Each time it has failed to correctly cycle and I have sought advice from the supplying company and in return received three separate parts to 'try as apparently these were known failure parts. Fast forward to last weekend when I had the opportunity to take said firearm out for a jolly, of course, once again the same old problems. Contacted the supplying dealer this evening to be met with a fairly curt reply of we no longer supply and support this brand and I have forwarded your email on to the new dealer, who might be able to assist Not exactly the support I was hoping for. Know its been a while since the original purchase, but not being able to be here for this particular discipline hasnt helped, nor has waiting for the three different parts to arrive and then be tried. Have taken a quick look at the Consumer Right Act 2015 and as I can prove the separate repair attempts, other customers problems with the same model, then do I have any legal footing and how do I proceed. Dont wish at this stage to mention any brands/dealers, but at over a grand its not peanuts to bin. Thank you in advance.

    Ryanair

Like them or loathe them, the low cost sector changed the way we travel today. Being in the business so as to speak Im glad that the Pilots are trying to address the underlying issues but please do not wish for its collapse. That would be a no win situation for everyone, loss of competition would drive up prices and the loss of jobs for those working there would be devastating- its not just Pilots, but the ground support workers and Cabin Crew too that would face huge financial loss. Obtaining another flying position isnt as easy as popping along to your local Airport you know- in the past friends have had to relocate to far flung corners of the globe in order to keep their families with a roof over their heads. Its not nice being stuck away for long periods without your family I can tell you.
  24. Use a valve lapping sucker to turn them
  25. JRDS Now your taking what was a BREXIt thread into a totally different topic Of course its not ok to have ANY criminal gangs Be they Albanian mobsters- Italian mafias or the Merseyside mob etc But I guess you really want me to bring up Rochdale dont you and you can do a double dig....... If you really like to use google to find out a story then lets have your home town and do one for ourselves! Probably find a gang of some description, but that will be ok as they are British
