    New pcp???

I own a hw 77.its old and im old.its lethal and heavy--and im old and heavy😁.But i has shot literally thousands of rabbits pigeons etc over the decades. Now im after a pcp thats not absurdly expensive. i am not a farquar nor a tarquin who likes to show off my expensive this and that. But i dont want rubbish so i have looked at hw 100 pcp guns.Expensive though.Whats worth the cash .So many turk guns with lovely wood. But i wager many leak, many break etc.I did own a rws rapier for a decade.it was impressive.sold it as i didnt think the rabbits would return.well---- some have and need bumped off rapido!!!!.So opinions pls.im in scotland btw.i couild grab an fac gun without too much hassle.i did use the .22 rimfire when i was younger so i have had a firearms cert. But i dont think i need an fac job not really. If you do have a pcp for sale that would float my boat dont be shy .show me.
  2. My shooting m8 and best pal died on his 44th birthday some years ago now. his ashes lie in the river bed across from our favorite flighting spot .I often find myself saying "how the fek did i miss that one eck!" More than once i have found myself annoyed with him for having died so young when i felt we should have had had so many years of fowling and nights out in the pub ahead of us. Memories eh?. I recall one morning (back in the 80's) i sat under an overhang in the river bank that was made from massive sheets of ice left by the sea on the tops of the reedbeds during the night tide. Utterly bitter weather .I managed to drop 2 greylag after having shuffled about, moving up and down the rivers edge under those ice sheets , trying to intercept the random flightline that never seemed to come over me that morning .They came crashing down with one hell of a thud through that bizarre ice cathedral when i did manage a shot. Having been over that side of the river a good hour I waded back across the river to my m8 Eck and there he was with a frosted white moustache crouched in against the sea wall , almost blue and statue like. He had not wanted to move in case he spoilt my chance of a goose. We had been out all night for only a few duck in the bag you see .The daft sod had the first stages of hypothermia at least. I would never have guessed that 20 years later his ashes would lie at that same spot. Picture was taken perhaps a year before he passed. Rest easy m8.
  3. nope none with that fella either unfortunately
  4. Anyone have any of above they are selling .Cant track down a supply at this time. cheers.
  5. Ordered above from C&G .Received a phone call today asking to update thier records and give them my cert details. Now im fine with this for primers etc but for wads ????.seems a bit over the top to me for plastic wads and filler wads . No matter ill call back later to keep them happy.
  6. Having been stuck inside for what seems a lifetime with covid ive taken to clearing out the reloading bits and bobs.Ive loaded up a good few nobel 82/ 32g 12 bores but its time to try reloading some 20 bores if i can with some of this powder. Used a 16 bore for years but the 20 bore is still a novelty for me.I used the mossberg 20 a good bit on geese with the TSS over the last months of the season but ive not ,thus far, had a go at the doos with it.Theres a fair bit of csb-0 here ,nobel 82 and a wee bitty of blue dot needing used up. I'll order some cases and wads when im happy with any loads that may be advised. I can use this lot on the rabbits and doos over the next month when im no longer infected with plague!!!!!! Cheers in advance .In 20 bore loaders experience what powder have you taken to with lead loads? Im guessing it will be the older guns like myself that have extensive lead experience with the 20 bore .I could load steel i suppose i do have steel powder and i could get hold of some lighter steel shot if need be. cheers in advance.
  7. When my old man was doing the rabbits and pigeon as a vermin control styles business most days of the week we would find ourselves in the lower areas of large fir woods shooting pigeons coming in from early afternoon to evening roost. He used the .410 constantly but only the wee 2" cases. They were lethal on birds at the top of mature firs. He even used some ancient french powder from a tin he had been given from an old fella to create quieter loads. This was in the days before full length silencers. He used a bayonet fit silencer(i still have it).The sound was barely audible 50 yards away and these 2" cases very impressive to say the least. He used them ferreting as well in the woods .Great memories.I have the reloading gear still. ps felt wads back them mostly in the 70's and early 80's i seem to recall.

    Duck call

in my experience duck will come in to most calls . Normally the callers abilities (or lack of therein) or the fowls motivation to simply be elsewhere are to blame for non commitals .Duck aint snobs they dont care if the calls made by timmy tupper or Gepetto so long as it has reasonable tones.I will add though that goose calls are different and geese in my experience are quite picky about the call tone --and of course the callers skills again
  9. agreed rhinos are a good round.Better loading your own if you can though if for nothing else it will save you cash
  10. Aye there was slight pitting .What puzzled me and my gunsmith--is how they got it through proofing with one pin knackered??Anyways.yes its a pretty gun.Im sure you will have a good few duck with that old gal
  11. I would not wish genuine poverty on anyone. Been there done that as the saying goes. Its perhaps something you have to experience whereby ten quid is a life saver let alone six hundred.
  12. yes i loaded up some wee black powder cases. 1 3/8 oz lead i think they were .I was sat waiting for some pinks coming over the fields that never came.I test fired after the flight that never was. Pattern was good at 35 yards or so with #1.I think she was 1/4 choked so more suited to pond work than the shore. But yes check with the sellers that they resolved that pin issue .I had the gun looked at by a smith here and he pointed out that it was certainly off centre and that the pin being used was deliberately made crooked to afford a reasonable strike.Should be fine so long as they resolved this. Lovely looking gun it was.
  13. Make sure it fired both barrels m8. i bought it last year took it out for geese and it would not fire right barrel i think it was .I sent it back. They claimed they could resolve the issue and would have to send it off someplace. Apparently the original housing for the pin was made off centre Im sure they have done so but best to check.Apart from that it was a lovely gun.
  14. Sorry but i have no clue what you are on about.I simply wondered who you were.
  15. Would it be impertinent to know who is asking? cheers, Allen.
  16. nope not expansion you can have the spent case exposed and its still stuck fast inside the mechanism Mossberg 500 problems - Bing video this is the issue i have.
  17. Anyone came across a mossberg 500 than jams once fired.will not pump back .it takes a a lot of force to eject the case. And its not a fired round jamming in the barrel btw this is a gun issue not a cartridge one..Im told its the lugs than hold the feed ramp in place.its only happened twice but once is enough????
  18. Most seem to use this lil' gun powder. Anyone using alliant steel for their 20g steel loads??I was made aware that alliant took their steel data off their site a while back as the old powder was different than the new. Im not 100% on this. But if true ,makes load data gleaned off the internet a tad dubious unless proof house validated me thinks.
  19. i got hold of some 30g lead #5 shot, gamebore. felt wad i think they are.Cant say at this point they get a wow star really.Sitting doo at 30 yards flew off!!
