Because out of 1000 people one will fall for it. The wife works in a bank and last month had an old bloke in wanting to transfer £10,000 to an account for a Rolls Royce he had never seen. The scammer said the car would be delivered the next day after payment. When the wife told him it was a scam he accused her of wanting it for herself. The bank now has a policy in place where the Police are called to convince the victims it's a scam.

If the police are making people pay illegally then BASC should help a member who has been affected sue the police through the small claims court for their money back. If the claim is successful then it should be made public. This would cost BASC next to nothing.

They do the same thing with passports, Visas and E111 forms.

Chase the weather, a sunny west coast is better then a rainy east coast, 100 miles can make a world of difference. We do this every year (using Premier inn instead of motorhome)
