Pellet in my hand

About 23 years ago I was shot in the right hand whilst trapping at a clay ground. The day I was shot the Local doctor removed 6 pellets out of my right hand. There was one he missed which has always a hard lump on the edge of my middle finger.

It has now after all this time become irritating and I keep scratching it etc as it is annoying me.

Should I go and see the doctor and get it cut out? Or just leave it there and try and forget about it? When I got shot all those years ago I had the old bill round as the doctors have to report a gunshot injury however it happened and I don't know if I can be bothered with all that again.

It is right near the surface now so perhaps I will just find a brand new stanley knife blade and nick it out myself.

Cheers

Martin

Do you reckon that Injurylawyers4u will go back that far?

I can't even remember when it was myself. All I know is I was still at school.

Trouble is that my flight pond and woods for roost shooting are all on the same ground where I was shot and owned by the same guy, so sueing him for damages may be detremental to my permissions.

sounds like its ready to come out mate. A stanley blade would be the right tool for the job (I cut the stitches out of my vasectomy with one of these so no girlying out) Get a friend to film it and post it on here.

Are you for real? :oops::good:

I'd say see a doctor, at least it'll be done with the minimal amount of chance of infection, and what if you pull it and its connected to something, and one of your eyes gets pulled back into your head, or one of your ears turn inside out?

If that happens post pics of that too please.

If you are going to do DIY surgery, do not use a Stanley blade, get yourself down your local craft or model shop and get some Swann Morton No26 or No11 blades, much finer edge than a Stanley blade.

Cheers Tony,

The DIY surgery bit was meant as a joke but I do have some Swann Moreton scalpel blades in my modelling kit.

I am far too much of a coward to cut my own finger open.

Martin,

Perhaps we should all meet up the Fox for a few beers to numb the pain and a bit of beer fueled bar top surgery.

I have a very steady hand after a few pints, my eyes go a bit funny though so keep your trigger finger out the way.

Failing that get Jim Spalding to have a go with his chisel and a splash of glue, and fish and chips in the Fox afterwards !

you might find that the pellet has a fatty shell around it now so you will not know the size left until the pellet is out.

i had a mate that got shot in the face with a pellet, in a van and a loaded air rifle. trigger got pulled and pellet bounced around van, ended up in his cheek. went to doctors but told to leave it as it had gone up the skin by and inch. wasnt happy with that so go drunk and got the tweezers out.

dont forget the money shot.

I will put my doc hat on now and be a spoilsport.. DO NOT use a knife to try and remove the lead, you may cut a nerve or damage a tendon, unless its causing real problems leave it alone it will prob. work its way out eventually. I doubt your GP will do it these days and will ref. you to specialist to have it removed.

all the best
