The problem with the world cup is it's every 4 years, in that time everyone forgets the previous tournament and they build their hopes up again only for the inevitable. As someone on the TV said the other day "Watching England play is like having an unfaithful girlfriend, you take her back hoping she won't do it again but she'll always disappoint you". :good:

I wonder if we should pay them more?

We could alway incorporate a bonus related performance scheme or something, obviously up and above the 100k they already get a week as it is?

A dreadful affair.

The ball went backwards more than it went forward. No flow and no attack to the game. The player who did the most work was David James dealing with the constant flow of back passes.

We had the easiest run in and the easiest first group. Absolutely shocking we can't beat USA or Algeria. The team is old, rich and unfit. They just don't seem to want to bother.

Yours,

Disgusted

Unless England do get through the group stages and get to the semi finals I will not be supporting them anymore. Unlike the 66 squad who wanted to win and did the job these overpaid girlies just play for money and just dont care if they win or lose.

It seems to me the players were scared to play, scared to make any mistakes and scared of their own shadows. We've got players who, for the most part, are at the top of their game playing for their clubs. They play against many of the best players in the world week on week yet put in a performance a Sunday league team would have been ashamed of yesterday.

The buck has to stop at Capello. His strategy of letting the players know who's in the team only two hours before the match is appalling, it will unnerve the players and gives them no time to mentally prepare for the match.

Rob Green - whatever our thoughts on his mistake Capello should have made him play the next game. It will have killed his confidence leaving him out and will play on the minds of others - they need to take chances and won't do this if they're scared of the boss.

The 4-4-2 formation was wrong and Capello wouldn't change it. Joe Cole was left sat on the bench when the team needed an injection of skill in the centre and once again Heskey started up front and brought nothing to the game.

The players were appalling - but the manager needs to realise their potential, release his grip on them and allow them to play.

Absolutely,

Blame the manager, after all he only controls who goes on the pitch. Not what the tossers do once they are on there. Mungler summed it up well. They are overpaid, unfit and not interested in winning.

They are only interested in ******** birds and driving flash motors. Rooney is a scouse **** who wants a ******* good hard slap and as for the rest of them, well I would **** on any of them even if they were well alight.

I hope they have their plane tickets booked, they are going to need them on thursday.

Engerland, Engerland, Engerland, Don't make me ******* laugh.

I don't think it's anything to do with money.

David Beckham is no doubt the richest footballer in the world yet still manages to give 100% when he plays.

Poor player selection and tactics were at the root of last nights woeful performance. You only had to look at the players faces to see they weren't happy doing what was being asked of them. I would say they were just as frustrated as the fans, you only had to watch the post match interview with Steven Gerrard to see that. I had the feeling he really wanted to agree with the interviewer that tactics were wrong but obviously couldn't say so on live tv. I can see Capello losing the dressing room if things don't change quickly.

There's no doubt that on paper England have a strong team, but it's up to the manager and back room staff to make them gel. What we saw last night was 11 individuals, not 1 team. And that is down to the manager.

Poor old Capello - hero to zero in under a fortnight, who would ever want to be a manager.

I don't profess to know anything about the game so can't comment on his strategy, but most of the team looked like they didn't want to be there, I thought it was the highlight of any footballers career?

Yet the pundits still keep talking as though were going to get through after "apparently" beating Slovenia. How do they think we will do that after recent performances? Slovenia played really well today too.

That sums it up...maybe good in the Premiership, but up against the rest of the world we are ****. :good:

In a nutshell.

And as for the thunderbird puppet, well he was gunna crack eggs with a stick....looks like the planes booked for Thurs. :(
