jasons gold
Anywhere I can get any info to back this up?? try the eu working time directive and i am certain that you can opt out, but you actually have to sign to say that you are opting out. but you may have done this unwittingly in you contract of employment Edited August 15, 2010 by jasons gold

paulf
I'm self employed and do a variety of things, mainly grounds maintenance (domestic and commercial) Plus property maintenance for several landlords/ letting agents. Also qualified pestcontroler and do a bit evenings (mainly wasps) Lots of variety so i rarely get bored but a stupid amount of equipment to constantly swap between vans. rimmie
This has probably been asked before but I just wanted to get peoples opinions, I am an Estate Agent (no remarks please lol) and work from 8:30 till 6:30 Monday to Friday and have to work every Saturday 9-5, which is a tad inconvenient, so I really only have a Sunday or the evenings, and just wondered what people did for work and when they get out with the gun, I havnt been out for a while and thinking of moving agents as I have no time for myself. im a p.a.t tester (portable applience testing)for a company in london i test the electric appliences (computers, printers, leads, kitchen appliences)anything with a plug.if you work in a office its the little stickers with PASS on them so im all right for shooting in the evening/night and weekends

mickmep
worked for a joinery and shopfitting company when i left school. 12 years workshop and site fitting etc. then changed to autocad draughtsman for same company, doing site surveys, design, etc. which i did for 12 years. company went pop march last year so i decided to set up a little property maintainance etc company and go back on the tools. that lasted about 3 months before another joinery company got in touch to see if i'd be interested in doing freelance autocad design etc for them, been doing that for around a year now, along with site surveys around south east and london for a design company we used to do shopfits for. never worked so hard or long hours in my life, conciously not done so much this year, but last year was doing 6-7 days each week. loving it though, wish i'd done it sooner, you could see the writing on the wall for the joinery company for the last 18 months but we all had to stay for the redundancy, most of the guys there were there when i started my apprenticeship so we'd all got too many years invested to jump ship before the bitter end. jesus i do go on

HDAV
why'd you go freelance? Why does anybody......I'm a freelance/self employed Custom AV designer and installer mostly doing high end domestic installs. Everything from full home cinemas to complete home automation and multi-room audio and video systems. Currently sat waiting for a delivery of bits to go and fit in a footballers house to control the lighting system. Spend a lot of my time rescuing other peoples balls ups.... Used to work for a defence contractor on comms gear, and have climbed on pretty much everything the brittish army has with wheels and tracks.
