The Jackson
Personally I thought it was quite good, however before you all jump down my neck. It's was my first time to that show. I got everything I went for and though the lads at A1 decoys were bang on, they did myself and my shooting buddy some great deals I thought. So a big thanks to them. Met Andy Crow there which was nice. All round good day for my. Also my mate brought himself a .22 lr for £120 with a scope so he was chuffed. Bloke
I enjoyed it, but (before I get shouted at ) I went for a reason that made the cost worth it. I wanted to see and handle certain guns I am considering buying, that I would have to spend about £30 on petrol to see otherwise. I also got to have a good talk to a gunsmith about the pros and cons of the various makes of lever action .357 I want, as all the sites are obviously biased toward the particular brand of gun they sell. So for me, the show was worth it, but I agree, if I hadn't gone with that definite goal, the show was way overpriced. £7 for that poxy little breakfast! £5.50 for a burger! (Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind if I win the Browning draw! )

Go and have a talk with Graham (gunsmith) and Tom Who displays cartridges (big bore stuff)on the BASC stand both great guys. Found prices high for a lot of items. Aaz
My first year and wont be returning, high prices, poorly laid out, cramped, hot, broken and flooded loo's, the stalls were understaffed and it felt like I was walking rounding a Sunday market/boot fair in the Air Gun section, some bloke constantly blowing various calling whistles and shouting out prices - felt like shoving them up is **** and his stall was full of tat - where's the 3 wheeled yellow robin. If that's the British Shooting Show I'm very disappointed The only part I enjoyed, as always, was watching the gun dogs - I'll be sticking to the game fairs. Oh and why do people go dressed head to toe in camo, ah well - gave me something to laugh about, so cheers if its any of you guys
rsrjerry
I enjoyed the show but went for a reason tbh and that was to meet up with a few people from all over the country . good day and didnt spend a lot of money totally agree with this quote from Aaz some bloke constantly blowing various calling whistles and shouting out prices - felt like shoving them up is **** and his stall was full of tat - Trying to talk to people and that thing squealing its tits off i think there was a lot of people wanted to do the same but i wont say what i what i wanted to do to him Edited February 26, 2012 by Zapp
88b
First time for me and my two mates, expensive to get in , ripp off coffee and **** overpriced burgers. Totally agree with Aaz about the idiot with the fox caller, we were talking to the people on the next stall and gave up in the end. I almost bought a side by side but came to my senses in the end. We all enjoyed it but I doubt I'd go again. Getting out was a nightmare at 3:30 Edited February 26, 2012 by 88b

dan-250
I went got a new escort with the speed loading and smart piston, not bad for 290 with a slip, included, got home and am missing the stock spacers tho. New boots, new clay vest, can't find nothing wrong with it for a tenner, reckon it was on the wrong rack, some new gloves and my mrs got a hat. At dinner we got the stamps and went round the corner to maccy d's saved a bomb and was stuffed. I thought it was fairly cramped in and under staffed on the gun stalls. Took an hour to get my license filled it. How much is the game fair in grantham ? Belvoir castle is it ?
phaedra1106
I didn't go and still got a bargain, nice guy off the UK Full-Bore board picked up 5Kg of TR140 (Vit N140) at £50/Kg for me

Guest topshot_2k
I thought its a ok show, i went (advanced tickets) to see and handle a few different rifles and airguns as im planning on a purchase or two ready for spring. Airsoft section was a joke surely? grown men dressed like they are in middleeast war zone firing plastic bbs at each other Local gunshops dont always have stock of what im looking at so it was worth a trip for me

Salop Matt
Well I went yesterday and yes the entry fee is high but you know that before you set off so dont understand why the complaints, if its to high dont go, doubt people only found out the price when they got there ! Also 2 free mags on exit which ar Possibly £2 each so thats £4 of freebies. I was pleased with what i bought which was: Clubrite from culson - Nomally £48/£50 + - I paid £40 1 Red + 1 Orange filter from culson for clubrite - Normally £10 each - I paid £10 for the 2 Also no P+P to pay I also got a anti spill tube and red filter for my ultrafire - Shown at £45 but with some haggling £30 These guys also gave me a free bullet holder which i can use to hold the curly tail of the lamp aganst the stock! 10 x Size 0 shot 52g carts (12b) - £3.50 Nice lady on GMK stand gave me a free Benelli Baseball cap Mount for ultrafire- priced at £20 paid £15 Assortment of good metal targets (11 targets in total)- should of been £50 i paid £37.50 So i was a happy bunny. Fartherin law has been looking for a AYA for old times sake and he got one that he`s very happy with (SXS 1/4 & 1/2 28") advertised at £175 - bought £150. Only thing I didnt get was a slip for my Benelli and shropshire lad was looking for flocked decoys and a flapper but nothing grabbed him ! More decoying equipment and more cartridge retailers would be good, but i will likely be going again next year !

TbirdX
I thought it was worth a visit. Went on the Sunday with the Mrs and 2 others and we had a good walk around, looked at all the stands, had a wander down the clay line with a 'jesus christ' at the noise of the muzzle loaders . We were after a gun for the Mrs so this gave us the opportunity to see and try for fit the ones we had narrowed the list down to. LOP and weight were the over riding factors but theres no substitute for being able to try them out. In the end, we bought a Hatstand youth 20g so we came away happy. This could cost a small fortune now.... (not to mention her discovery at how much my Maxus was!! ) My friend spunked 600 notes on a daystate and we bought a few other bits and pieces so it was worth the trip. Is it worth it if you're not after something major?, I'm not so sure but you pays your money I reckon.
