Robl
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-19635239 That doesn’t give the full story or any details, just a few high level ‘facts’. But, it looks like another case where unarmed police were sent on an operation against a bloke who had guns. (and in this case possibly grenades too)
Breastman
Someone wants their harris's kicking for sending unarmed officers to deal with a fruitloop like this!

Kes
I just hope there was a robust justification to send two unarmed police officers. Women they may have been but the same would have happened to men in the same circumstances. It is very, very sad and so harrowing for the families and freinds of the two WPC's. Whilst revenge is not the justification, shooting down two unarmed officers of Her Majesty's Peace has to merit a death sentence. The man responsible gave himself up apparently AFTER he had killed tow young innocent women, so he knows he will live - and sadly those he shot, to whom he could have given himself up - and their familes will never recover. rec-baller
The shooter had walked into a police station in Manchester and handed himself in ! My old man was a copper for 30 years every police officers family's nightmare,, them not coming home ! Gordon R
It happened about two miles down the road from the Boar Shooting Ground at Tintwistle. Absolute tragedy for the Policewomen and their families. It does stick in my throat that two people are dead and he calmly walks into a Police Station and gives himself up, rather than a shootout with armed Police. Absolute cowardly scum. I trust he will never ever be released.
Livefast123
R.I.P, My thoughts are with the families and their colleagues at this very sad time. There will be no justice that this country can give out that will be strong enough to deal with the crimes that scumbag committed, there is only one sanction that would deal with it effectively and unfortunatly in this country it was got rid of by the tree huggers and liberalists. The way he handed himself in like coward he was, hope he feels a real man after mudering 2 unarmed women.
buckaroo23
What a shame and waste of one maybe two lives, real feel for the family's, lets hope justice is served, Let's hope the WPC pulls through.
Dave-G
Damn the scummy ****. It's a bit premature to condemn the police force for sending two unarmed officers for what might initially have only been thought to be a break in of an empty house.. happypig
The policeman stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, Policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my Church have you been true?" The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges Can't always be a Saint. I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my work was rough, and sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep, I worked a lot of overtime When the bills just got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around Except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me here, Lord It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't, I'll understand." There was silence all around the Throne Where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, For the judgement of his God. "Step forward now, policeman, You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in Hell."
Robl
I love that poem. If you haven’t noticed I have huge respect for the police. Some of my very good friends from Uni joined the police straight after graduation, 2 of them girls, so I always pause a moment when I read stories like this. Especially WPCs. Personally, I support the standard arming of police. There should be a reversal of the current stance. Instead of only handing out guns when they are known to be required I believe they should always be armed unless there’s a reason not to be. After all, if they aren’t armed then they are about as useful as a well-trained nightclub bouncer. And that’s fine at the Chelsea Flower Show, but it’s no good when investigating a burglary.
