Aaz
Gents I need some opinions please, I think its time to consider selling my fishing gear, haven't been for over one and a half years and at the moment have no interest in going as my shooting has taken precedence (plus missus didn't like it when I disappeared for 3-4 days at a time). I'm wondering what's best, to sell as a job lot or split it? Most of the specialist gear has only seen a couple of seasons!! None of this is for sale yet but: Currently have: Trakker Armo MK2 bivvy - 1 man 4 Greys prodigy TX in varying TC's 4 Shimano DL bait runners JRC Extreme bed chair (from memory - would need to double check) Car-porta fatboy (I think) has the twin wheel acc at rear) Shimano 6 or 8 rod holdal Maker rod Spod Rod JRC Euro pod Rods that I use/d for piking x3 Shimano baitrunners (ST's I think) x 3 or maybe 4 1 Abu Garcia multiplier Shimano 9ft Spining rod 4 Fox alarms, possibly 5 but would need to check Korum accessory chair with loads of different fittings Korum Day shelter Loads of bits and pieces and there's probably more tackle that I just remember Come on then gents what do you all think I should do? Wiggum
Hold on to it mate its not costing you anything but would cost you a lot more than you will get for your gear to buy all again should you want to get back into it. I find myself slipping between carp fishing and shooting tend to fish in summer and shoot in winter.
colin lad
as wiggum says hold on to it i have not match fished for 6 years but wont sell any of it in case i want to go back as it will cost a small fortune to buy again colin
paddywack12
Hold on to it all mate, It dont cost nothing to keep it.. I too have a load of carp gear all top notch stuff (delkim alarms, shimano reels, greys rods etc) but have not wet a line for nearly 3 years (since i stopped smoking!) I just know how long it took to acquire all this stuff and if and when I want to go again its ready and waiting.
pimpkiller
definitely split it, its rare to get someone to fork out big money for a whole kit whereas a pair of rods or a pair of reels will appeal to many more people. Clean it all up take some nice pictures and get it all on the net if you are seriously looking to sell. Im in the same boat at the mo, got a lot of gear that could do with going just cant be bothered.
bruno22rf
Aylesbury eh?-I would leave it in the boot of my car with a little bit showing and park it somewhere on Southcourt, bout an hour should be ample. Then claim on your insurance
BerettaSV10
As the others have said keep it, I still have my course and sea gear, what I was offered for it was peanuts. Several of my reels are over £200 each to replace, let alone the rods, which most are brand new and never been used thanks to some toe rag nicking it all years ago. Marc Z
I'll buy it off you for 50 quid, then when you want it back I'll sell it for 60.
daz2202
All my carp, pike and sea gear is all in the loft staged away for another year. I've not been fishing for near ten years but I am sure I will again when my boys grow up. My gear stands me in thousands bought over the years but prob only worth a few hundred. Fishing tackle only dates if you are a tackle tart
Aaz
It's not a financial decision just seems a waste having my gear sat there doing 'nout except for depreciating in value when at the mo I can't see me ever wetting a line again. If I parked on southcourt they'd have the motor an all lol! I'll think about hanging on to it for a while and if I decide to sell, I'll split it, as pimpkiller is probably right - worth less as a job lot Cheers gents

marktattoo
Sold my carping gear to pay for the shotgun, needs must at the time, however wish I had kept hold of it would love to have a few days carping, but can't afford to replace the gear. Still got my coarse tackle and keeping hold of that, even though only got out twice last year.

Aaz
proper fishing my rear,,aint you ever caught a barbel No I haven't, funny that I was talking about this the other day! Perhaps that's why I've lost interest, fishing hard natural waters chasing big tench and bream as apposed to the river, roving and spinning that I used to love. shootnfish
Keep hold of it, thought about selling mine last year, but didn't and glad i didn't because my oldest boy who is 10 really wants me to take him this year when it warms up nothhing serious like i used to do just gonna go to a day ticket water with a good head of doubles to get some runs for him. It would cost way more to buy it back than what you would sell it for.
Mk1 Man
If you're gonna get back into Carp Angling. Do it sooner rather than later. With the Damage that Otters are doing to Fisheries all over the country there wont be many Carp left in a couple of years. let alone waterfowl, and other fish species. Those Carp that are left will be in Fenced in Lakes with owners charging a fortune for syndicate places for the privilege to Fish for them. The tree hugging Furry animal loving Veggies have started something, what can only end up as A disaster for angling and British aquatic wildlife. Worst of all is that they have the general public on their side as A Cute furry animal is more appealing than a Cold wet slimy fish.. Even if that fish is 40 odd years old and weighs 50-60lb.. houlsby
Have all my gear at my parents still, moved out over 3 years ago now. Must be £15-20k's worth easy. Just waiting till my boy gets old enough to come and ill be getting him trained up to batter the junior match fishing scene like his dad used to :-) Seriously tho, keep it. I sold all my match tackle when I got into carping and lost 2 years of my life.. Replaced it when I fished winter leagues again and it cost me thousands
