A few crows

Had a few hours this morning on some drillings, 0800 till 1100.

Randomly threw out 9 pigeon shells painted Matt black, about 30 yards from my hide.

Straight away had 2 rooks come in from behind me, both were promptly added to the pattern.

The next few birds that came in were shot out the back of the pattern, although they were dropped, they were only wounded, so they needed another shot to quickly dispatch them.

I was using some fiocchi 28g 7.5, but as I have previously found with clay cartridges, past 30 yards, you get a LOT more runners than clean kills.

This saw me bringing the decoys in 10 yards, and me having to wait untill the birds were over the decoys before shooting them.

Finnished up with 20 corvids ( lost 2 ) and 5 pigeons.

A nice mornings shooting, its been a while !!!

Well done Chris :good: nice bag mate  things should start to pick up as the days draw out and warm up,i hope so anyway  things have been very quiet of late :good: BB

Mark had a good day on em the other week.

We are starting to see some woodys down here, possibly the cold and snow is driving them down?? Unfortunately they are feeding on a rape field I don't have permission to shoot on.... :(

Nice bag Chris :good: Its gone quiet around here again, as BB says, we need some warmth to get things on the move  Its suprising how a drop in the temperature slows things up.

I keep dragging Bluebarrels out, and we sit, drink coffee, chat then go home cold  Not long now hopefully :good:

Some great shooting to be had on these hungry little fellas......Well Done

I think they fall from the sky a lot better than pigeon when shot and love a crow shoot

I had a great day on these a few weeks back, only problem is getting people who are as keen as me to shoot them.

I think they are seen as a 'no reward' shot, and not worth the price of a cartridge by some...thats why we have so many of them.

Keep up the good work.
