and some of it is written by those old enough like ME to have actually endured her vitriol 1st hand so show some bloody respect for them eh!

When they write misinforming claptrap do they deserve much respect? I remember all too well the devastation that the unions caused way before Mrs. T got to grips with putting a brake on the destruction, we lived and had to try and work through all the disruption.

You only have to look at how powerless the labour governments prior to that were to negotiate anything rational with the unions to realise the true intent of the leaders of these organisations and their overseas promoters.

Interesting to see how she was also able to open negotiations with the ruskies once they realised that their attempts to undermine our economy had been foiled at the last minute.

Time for a few of you old died in the wool bleaters to consider the realities of the times back then.

What a load of vitriolic and ill informed tosh written by a loudmouth called KDUBYA.

Sir,

Please be factual in your rhetoric.

Margaret Thatcher was democratically elected and did a wonderful job in making Britain Great.

Could you please vent your spleen on what New Labour has done for this Country. It shouldn't take you long because it can be summed up by saying " Nothing but ruin it."

Margaret Thatcher did not cause you problems, she managed them.

Rest In Peace Margaret Thatcher, one of our greatest leaders.

The very first thing she did on attaining office ... Gave the police and army a pay rise ...Preparing the way ahead.....I can still hear famous speech ...." The National Health service is safe in our hands" ......She had two operations herself ...one on hear hand the second on her eyes ..

I take no joy from the death a woman suffering from dementia who died apparently alone in a hotel room whilst her loving family where busy being "important" but whilst she was in power I admit I hated her with a vengeance and I find it hard to swallow the guff of how good she was ,when the truth was she wasn't, she cared not a jot about the working man, she along with her husband (remember him) sold out the shipyards on the Tees to Trafalgar house I wonder who had big big stakes in them? no she was a manipulative business woman and good at it but she was never a leader.

KW

I like you dubya but you are being dopey. How could she have not cared about the working man when 2 million of them excercised the right to buy? And still are 30 years on. But you are clever with words, much cleverer than me, and you will say that this policy of margaret's had a terrible legacy!!! We cant win. Goalposts constantly shifting.

Just a quick observation, but people keep referring to MT winning 3 elections as a sign of her greatness, so do they feel the same about Blair who did the same? This is just an observation and not an invitation to explain more of her wondrous deeds.

I asked that question earlier, fell on deaf ears, anyway I have had my say and in the most part the replies have been genuine and well meant even if I did not agree with the sentiment, but it has now started to turn silly so will call it a day on this thread.

its politics at the end of the day, and like them we can't agree on a thread like they can't in the house of commons also how many of us actually like politicians in reality

I know one thing if it came down to gun laws we would vote for the party in favour of us as shooters

the real sad thing here is not the death of a past prime minster , that will happen to all of us. we live , we die

.but the grudges held.. now this debate could go on and on and on ... its the past.. a certain few lost their jobs, but lets be honest about one thing here... the unions are as much to blame as any government..

now i don't know if this is the answer... but many up north have grown up in a community that all work in one place..ie mines, car plants textiles. ship yards ..where down south..we don't.. we have never really had that type of manufacturing ..maybe the odd one or two,

most of us have either made our own way or worked for a smaller concern..

the mentality of the north /south is two totally different things... which in one way is quite sad...

living in the past will bring you nothing but bitterness.... just read this thread..that proves it,

look how Scotland, wales, and ireland feel about us...that has been going on for hundreds of years .... total bitterness... all the time we spend harping on about the past..nothing will ever change...

what could have been a great britain is a shambles.. we are no different to the 3rd world countries we take the **** out of

I lived in the northeast whilst taking my degree and Easington had nothing but the colliery as Consett had nothing but the steel works. Both bankrupt but nobody there could see it - it had been their way of life and should always have been - sad about that thing called 'making it pay' nothing there did for years, those communities lived on the anger about others ruining their lives when really they did nothing themselves. Sometimes a whole way of life is not sustainable but there always has to be someone to blame, sadly it wasn't Margaret but the unbridled union power/ demarcation/ and abject lethargy.

Sorry Kudbya it must be hard to accept the truth that many of the old manufacturing industries were hopelessly uneconomic but blaming one person who said it had to end, as the devil, is really to miss the point.

Never a leader - your vitriol is blinding you Kdubya. As for caring for the working man, do you think New Labour do they're veary nearly as right wing as Mrs T but without the conviction or integrity. I too lived through her rein and am from Merseyside so know all about her legacy but have also seen the narrow minded, bitter and entrenched attitudes of a variety of workforces and unions

They will never allow that to get to number 1 in the charts...

What I can remember, I certainly will be downloading it....

Welsh and proud! **** off ye old bint!

Actually, most parties aren't opposed to shooting in principle. The Green Party is against it though and banning shooting is one of their policies. But thanks to work by groups like BASC, all the main parties are generally supportive of shooting.

Bang on.

In all these pages KW has avoided going anywhere near putting any blame or responsibility on the unions. Blinkered in the extreme.

It's pointless rowing about it now though, whats done is done.

I would make the observation that when the Polkskis run out of work they get on their bikes. Ah, good old Norman Tebbit...
