ack-ack
Dont worry the guns are made in basc region and they dont like spain either, the basc people class basc as a seperate country. figgy The Basques were the last to hold out against Franco and bore the brunt of his wrath in the years following the civil war, thats why they were bitter. Times a great healer and the regions moved on. Its more of a welsh / english relationship now. Edited August 13, 2013 by ack-ack

Gimlet
So long as they don't try the UK's traditional trick for keeping the populace down, as that's going to war! There'll never be another war in Europe. The British can't afford an army, the Germans aren't allowed one, the French will collaborate, the Italians will run away and the Spanish will fight each other. I expect the EU observers will decide it is Britain that is at fault though. They won't miss this opportunity to punish us for not being good littles Euro commies. Whitebridges
Think twice before buying a SEAT ( Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo ) motor car. Jay
i am with you on the rioja. but not the expats fuel allowance, a lot of people have the idea spain is hot all year round, not so, i have been there in the winter picking olives with frost on the trees, and overnight temperatures of minus 5. i am not an expat. the government has recently stopped the winter fuel allowance for expats despite them having payed into the system. spinach
Why are the Spanish acting up, is it about that piece of little Britain that people fly to. Anyone knows why we haven't given it back yet. Seems like an expensive airport and administration burden to me and it's ****. I knew a bloke who flew there first time going abroad never got off the rock didn't think it too bad apart from the heat ,the monkeys and thought they were speaking English funny.(they weren't) Seven days in a Irish pub phoned home from a red box and ate fish and chips. Mind you don't suppose they could afford it.

Mind you don't suppose they could afford it. The Gibraltarians were given full british citizenship in 1981 they held a recent referendum and over 98% voted to stay british. As far as I am aware they recieve no financial aid from the uk in fact they generate billions of pounds each year(maybe the spanish are jealous) through banking, internet gambling and tourism. They are very patriotic and proud to be british they have their own regiment which is part of the british army and have served in afganistan. Also they pay no tv or road fund license no community charge have free university education low income tax petrol half uk prices british brands of scotch gin etc at £5.99 litre, they are quite well off their government seems to look after them better than ours look after us.Gib is still a strategically important base for the uk I was told the americans want us to keep it because they dont trust the spanish to have it.Support fellow brits and boycott spanish goods . We have given away our empire over the years and now are stuck with a little island disconnected from Europe (maybe not a bad thing).
