shippers2
Hi all have been reading up on the cci stingers 22LR and from what I've read they seen to be a very good round have any of you foke got any feedback good or bad just want to no what you guys think before I go and buy a load Thanks Shippers
Frenchieboy
I tried some CCI Stingers not long ago in my Browning "Trombone". They were extremely hard hitting and "reasonably" accurate, but they didn't group quite as well as my usual Magtec Sub-Sonics do! However do not let that put you off as it could well be because the CCIs just didn't suit my barrel. Also remember that being HVs your sound moderator (If you use one) will be nowhere near as effective with Stingers! If you're looking for that extra little bit of range or "punch" then it might well be worth tryng Stingers - You never know, your rifle might well love them! If you had been closer to me I have some left over that you couild have tried.
casts_by_fly
When i was in the US i shot them. My gun liked them at the time and subs were not useful there. They would anchor a groundhog or raccoon which are tough, even with body shots. If you don't care about noise and your gun likes them, go for it. Thanks Rick
CZ550Kevlar
I bought 200 of them, got them home and then found out you can't use them in ruger 10/22 T so be carefull anyone. Soon to be appearing for sale.
Pole Star
I used them many moons ago when I was living in the mountains in El Salvador CA in the late 70s & the rifle I was using was a very old & shaky Remington auto but I found them to very fast & poleaxed anything you hit with them , also found them very noisy & they blow small game to bits so if want to live off the the land with them its head shots only . I did not know they were still on the market . ATB Pole Star

CZ550Kevlar
Says in the manual, apparently the T model has a match chamber and the stingers have a slightly longer case about 1/10th of an inch so affects head space or something along those lines, the after affects aren't good for you or your rifle apparently. That's presumably just the 'T' model that it affects is it?
CZ550Kevlar
Yes T is the target model. All other 10/22's are fine.
welshwarrior
I had a 10/22 that loved them my last one hated them but was good with yellow jackets
Thunderbird
Be careful as some stingers available here in the UK are 22 EX LR and apparently are a longer round than normal to 22 LR. CCI velocitors might be a better bet.

Imperfection
I find they group quite well in my CZ 511 self loader and are hard hitting on rabbit.Bit noisy at night though-similar to firing an un-moderated centre fire!
casts_by_fly
Be careful as some stingers available here in the UK are 22 EX LR and apparently are a longer round than normal to 22 LR. CCI velocitors might be a better bet. All stingers and velocitors are the same case length. As said above, not for a match chamber. Edit- on second thought, i THINK the velocitors are also long cased. I used to have both and i think they are the same length, but i could be wrong and am happy to be proven wrong. Thunderbird
The Velocitors are normal 22LR casing but there are I believe two kinds of Stingers, the EXLR and normal LR. I was once sold a box of EXLR as normal 22LR by a very grumpy gunshop bloke.
colin lad
mine hates stingers and get very bad groups on the flip side it loves velocitors and they carry a bit more energy at 100 yards 104 ft lb as apposed to stingers 84 ft lb both are fine to 100 yards but beyond that they go from supersonic to subsonic ( transonic) think that's how you spell it and can lose accuracy colin
Dekers
CCI Subs and velocitors worked well in mine historically, but many CCI were very tight to chamber. The Stingers grouped very badly (I haven't used them for years and didn't know they came in two lengths).
Katash
Been looking for stingers for a few months, couldn't find any - was told that they were discontinued and replaced by velocitors (bull$hit i expect) Got some velocitors but not tried them yet, also got some segmented subsonics too. r1steele
My father has not long bought some Winchester hv that are relatively new to the market (sorry I cant remember the name) and he loves them. They are a segmenting type and the hollow point has the appearance a bit like this -o- , a sort of like a double keyhole shape rather than the standard hole in the end. He has my old 10/22 and it never got on with any cci ammo that has been put through it but loves Winchester subs and these new hv's.
Whitebridges
The best HV .22 LR round i've tried is the RWS HP. They are not too punchy ( about 136ft lb, I think), and push a 40g copper washed bullet. I get really good groups with them with no need to mess about re-zeroing, just a little bit of hold under at times. I don't use them much but they are great when a bit more length and punch is handy. http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/gunreviews/ammo/535030/22_LR_High_Velocity_ammo_test.html
steve_b_wales
I used Winchester Lasers a few years ago, and found them to be reasonably accurate. Have'nt seen them on sale for a while though.
sandspider
I bought 100 CCI Mini Mags a few months ago. They were fairly accurate in my CZ452 - approx 2" groups at 60 yards as opposed to 1" for subs. They were too noisy for me (though they hit hard), I stick to subs now.
