Kes
3 in Cheshire on a typical shoot day ground is very wet but not cold still not seeing the expected numbers around - seems like they are about 3 weeks late. So are the leaves round here !
old rooster
Saw a few on Saturday on our first day on the wooded part of the syndicate shoot, I've shot them in the past but tend to leave them now. Not suggesting it is wrong to shoot them, just personal choice. They can vary quite a bit in size, not sure if that is the difference between resident birds and migratory ones? We had our first day on the other half of the shoot last week and saw a couple of barn owls. Things like that make the day for me, it ain't about shooting loads of pheasants although it is nice to get on them, the other things out there to see make it all the more enjoyable IMHO. Ballymac
Been off the scene for a while and havent managed much shooting, but hope to get out tomorrow. Friends have told me of their days out in different parts of N Ireland and there are a few about. This colder weather and the full moon should bring a few more in. Hope to be out in the coming days so will let you know.

Cyffyllog
Out in the Corwen North Wales yesterday counted 18 in a small area, they were tired, flight of 20 to 30 yards, looked as if they had just dropped in, will look forward to an outing sometime later this week. Also flocks of hundreds of woodpigeon heading into oak woods. Edited December 1, 2013 by Cyffyllog

Aled
Had our December mooch yesterday, however due to the rain we only did a few hours late mornin to early afternoon. Saw 13 woodcock, bagged 1, saw about 25 snipe, bagged 1, plus a squirrel, quite pleased just to get out so the small bag was not that important. The fresh air and the company, that was great! Also worth noting that i've seen quite a few fly at dusk recently, one flies past our window, i wait until hes gone before closing the curtains!
