Great to have you back. I was beginning to think you'd packed in! We all miss a few so don't let it bother you. Plenty on here would like to shoot to your standard.

Big thanks. Work and a baby daughter got in the way of the start of the season but have got my priorities right now !

The Go Pro 2 is great , battery lasts all day ( on a driven shoot that's about 2 hours and I carry a spare battery in case) only downfall is in low light conditions. The Go Pro 3 has a better picture in low light, is much smaller and you don't notice in your head but the battery life is terrible. I have to carry a portable usb charger with me and charge after every drive. The GoPro 3 has stopped recording or shown to be recording but not and let me down several times. If I had to choose one I would go for the Go Pro 2 every time. Agree entirely on the steel but as you say there is no option and unless we are careful it will be our only option for ALL game shooting.

Enjoyed that a lot ,I've just got the gopro 3 black and the battery is a let down and I also get problems with the remote causing the battery to run down at a very quick rate so stopped using the remote now.

They have now just introduced a new gopro 3 plus and seem to have addressed the battery issues, time will tell.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I dont know why you are shooting at live targets when you really should be on the clays.

This is pretty poor shooting.

How many were pricked and died the next week ?

It is no excuse to say you were rusty,it looked like most of the shots missed behind.

Sorry but why post a video of missing bread and butter shots ?

And why did you keep sending your Dog out during the Drive?

My opinion anyway.

Every ones entilted to their opinion, just wasn't sure if you were trying to make an argument.

Duffryn posts quite a few shooting videos and I can honestly say he has a great track record for etiquette, and fair play. The man is not a cow boy and picks his birds.

Of course on driven days some birds get pricked and this is unfortunate but the keeper will go around most days along with others who walk the boundaries looking for and wounded birds.

I personally think he is an well above average shot, you can't honestly say that you shouldn't shoot game or quarry unless your at Olympic standard.

I'd encourage anyone to give the sport ago.

What are your opinions on beaters day and ladies day?

I have a post on my phone but not on my tablet ?

Maybe its an edit ?

To answer the missing post, I shoot on the farm at least twice a week, lots of Pheasants about now and a few Partridges and as always dozens of Pigeons.

I used to shoot with Blagdon Hall syndicate in the 80,s When I worked for Steve Smith of Newcastle (Gunsmith), and did a little coaching at his clay ground at Dinnington, I believe it is still there, now run by Jack.

I shoot clays every Sunday

All I am saying is that video is not for spectators - its poor.

I wont be adding to this post as its obviously caught a nerve or two !

Regards Mick

Perhaps a bit of thought in advance would have been wiser. Duffryn is undoubtedly a gentleman and sharing his experiences which I , for one, could not afford is simply stunning. Look at some of the other 4 Ashes videos - he's a good to very good shot - ever had a bad day?

Well you certainly have with your first post on this subject.

I take it you never miss? An apology would be appropriate but then ....................
