chrisjpainter
As I'm not always well enough to get out hunting, I've been thinking about getting myself a pistol for some fun and games at home. The thing is I know very little about such things, so was wondering what you guys use? Pneumatic? Spring? CO2? This WON'T be a finishing-off tool, just something to pass the time and keep an eye in with targets thoughts and suggestions?
RED BEARD
there was an old bsa scorpion for sale on here the other day.they are old and heavy'ish, but they are lovely to shoot.
Underdog
well the hw45 was a huge dissapointment so I got a 1377 instead. It is going nowhere! A little fiddling with the trigger and it is mustard! U.
Paddy Galore!
i've got a cp88 i sometimes have a plink with in the garden, good for about 10 metres and fun.
fenboy
If you intend to use it a fair bit Co2 can work out a little pricey , it is a lot of fun though and less effort than a springer You could always push the boat out and buy a single stroke pneumatic match type pistol

chrisjpainter
I'm not going to be eyeing up a gold in Rio or anything. just something to have a bit of a knock about with. You can get semi auto CO2 guns, but what about pneumatic? how are they charged? are springers worth looking at?
HDAV
For fun umerax CO2 revolver.... for accuracy PCP...... PCP charge from diving bottle or pump HAve a look http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/brocock_aimx_grand_prix_atomic_pistols http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/air_arms_alfapro_pcp_pistol Edited December 2, 2013 by HDAV
humperdingle
Do you want a consistently accurate gun? I just got a S/H Gamo Compact... Single stroke pneumatic, target style adjustable grips, very consistant entry-level target pistol. I've had various CO2 pistols, which are fun, but it's nice to know a pellet will go exactly where the gun is pointed.
Underdog
I soon got rid of my co2 pistol! The big springers seem well.......to big! Only got little hands see. Tried an alectra the other week....its good but I think above one pump it would get a chore for rapid plinking! The 1377 is a chore but easier to pump. U. bruno22rf
I have a "Airforceone desert falcon" .177 single stroke pistol hanging about if you want it-pm me for address or I can post it at cost.
Salop Matt
Is it paper target your looking at or IPS that your looking at ? The IPS got my attention but as I know nothing about it i have stuck with my air rifles and shotguns on clays and HFT. Also I have nutter neibour who is a big Anti who would loop the loop if he saw me/herd in the garden with a Pistol so I have to avoid anything like this at home as I cant be bothered with the trouble. Good news though is he has sold his house and should be going soon.
secretagentmole
I have an SMK S2 (Sping powered) .22 job I use to finish rats on glue traps off with. Damned thing has a rifled barrel! For actual target work I have a Crosman 1322 Medallist or 1377 Classic multi stroke pneumatic pistol, or a Daisy Powerline 747 .177 single stroke pneumatic with custom grips. For sheer Clint Eastwood days there is the Crosman 357 (.177 CO2 powered 10 shot revolver, altogether now "Did I fire 9 or did I fire 10, well in the excitement I clean forgot, so the question is Do ya feel lucky, can?") and for the Bruce Willis days there is the Tanfoglio Witness 1911 19 shot .177 bb gun, that has blowback reloading (ie behaves like a real 1911 with the topslide moving back) and that is a real blast, eats CO2 though, amazing how many you can get through in a day just blasting tin cans! My box of tricks! His and hers grin makers! Edited December 3, 2013 by secretagentmole
Gunnerbob
I have an Alecto which I use in the garden, one pump is ok for plinking.....
johnbaz
I have a "Airforceone desert falcon" .177 single stroke pistol hanging about if you want it-pm me for address or I can post it at cost. Wow!! That's a great offer of a pistol that would be fit for the job To the OP you could try an old classic Webley overlever, a Senior or Prmier or the more modern Tempest or Hurricane if you'd like a real challenge!! Horses are at ten feet springs to mind! As already said, a Gamo Compact is a fantastic low priced target pistol, I had one and in a moment of madness, got shut John

GingerCat
Quite fancy a tempest (the new old one) but can't justify the price, I remember when they were 70 quid New.

four-wheel-drive
Senior .22 This is the one to go for if you want something that feels like a real gun it can take a lot of practice to hit the target but when you pull the trigger you can feel something happening and that feels good. I have had lots of air pistols from expensive PCPs to C02 guns and nice though they are when you come to shoot them you pull the trigger and they go pop the pellet hits the target I found it quite boring after a wile if you are competing with other people at a club it can be fun but for having a plink in the back garden I enjoy shooting my old .22 webley premier best of all. Could I recommend that it would be worth you joining BBS as they have a good second hand section but you have to join to be able to vew it and buy one.
