Tomcantwell
After wanting one for as long as I can remember, I finally made the sacrifice that is buying a defender. Shes a B reg, 1985 I think, although I'm sure someone will correct me, with a later 300TDI engine fitted. Also fitted with larger wheels, and some nice black chequer plate. Having owned a discovery previously and found every time I saw a Defender my heart sank a little, I knew I had to have one. It was bought completely on the honesty of the ebay listing (must be mad) and my bid was spontantiosly chucked on 2 minutes before the end of the bidding, and I WON!! 2 days later and I've got my bundle of £20 notes rather obviously stuffed in my pocket, and off I head on the 44mile journey to pick her up. Within the last 10 miles the butterflies and apprehension of what I'd just bought set in. However, on turning up I was pleasantly surprised, everything looked tidy and clean. The previous owner was very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. We exchanged paperwork (and a quite substantial chunk of cash) and I was inside. I really was impressed with how tidy it was! Once I was shown which keys did what, I was off!! Driving home was quite an experience, the wind made her sway a bit, and the Severn Bridge was very scary! (didn't go over 25 ) Had to find some mud to play in, and worked beautifully. Taking her on the shoot tomorrow so we'll see how it goes then! Well I love her! Wouldn't change for the world! Scully
Looks as though its been well looked after, and had a bit of money spent on it. Very nice. I know exactly what you mean by your 'heart sinking' each time you saw one. I had a Disco' 1 for many years, and while it did sterling service, was high spec' (ES) and very comfortable, I always yearned for a 'proper' basic Landrover. I now have one, and use it on a daily basis. Love it. Edited December 9, 2013 by Scully

keg
Welcome to the dark side ( and the best engine). Most LR owners are top notch, it's a small minority of dodgy dealers and a couple of individuals who get a bad name because they know that we Defender owners think with our hearts sometimes. bunny_blaster
Looks very tidy for the age. I drive a D reg 90 and love it to bits although mine isn't quite as clean as yours. Enjoy it, you certainly will when/if this bad weather comes and you can get out and about and these posh mercs/bmw's are struggling Cheers Ben

Big Mat
Looks tidy, certainly tidier than my 1992 Defender or my 1980 series 3! ( which might be for sale soon! ) Get it waxoiled underneath and treat any rust that appears!
