Bleeh
Has anyone tried this? - What I'm reading on the internet leans towards the idea that it will burn half of Norfolk down, but I have issues believing it'll be that bad. figgy
Sweep your chimney with it first, cut the top half off the tree for this, drop a rope down the chimney tie top bit of tree on and drag the tree down it then burn it. Three in one Xmas tree very environmental. Beats sending a young child up Figgy Edited December 28, 2013 by figgy
byjovecarruthers
I burn mine every year. The price of the average Christmas isn't cheep so I like to get maximum value from it. It does spit like crazy though. Ok inside a stove but I'd be careful with an open fire.
Nikk
They deposit resin in the flues and chimneys apparently.

scotslad
U must off sprayed ur tree with something to get it to go up like that. I've burned plenty while working in forestry but never seen one go up like that in 9 secs before
Marki
Those flames look like petrol. Not that I have ever tried dowsing a tree in fuel and lighting it.

neil3728
ours will be going back to the shop they came from. They gave us a bag to put them in and they go off to be recycled and we get a voucher to spend in the shop.
39TDS
Take your tree outside and try it. No petrol, nothing sprayed on it. Just pure ordinary Christmas tree. Makes you think doesn't it.
39TDS
2010 I had the lens off my camera and turned on ready, lit a piece of A4 paper and put it underneath. The times are counting from the start, so from start to finish is one minute Start . 1 second 4 seconds 9 seconds 14 seconds 21 Seconds 29 seconds 60 seconds My very favourite part of Christmas Have a think about this, just look at the picture that is at 4 seconds. I guess most of you have a tree in your living room every Christmas, if it somehow catches fire (dodgy lights, kids and matches etc) this is how long you get. Could you get a bowl of water in time? I think the tree would have gone out before you had chance to think about it. 2009 From the first pic to the last was exactly 30 seconds. Not the best thing to have in your front room covered in electric lights are they. Bleeh
Haha, excellent. If I've been made to pay £30 for the bloody thing I might as well have some fun with it.
grrclark
it is mental how fast they go up having had 3-4 weeks to dry out in a nice warm room and full of flammable resin. I love having a good bonfire on new years day so many a tree has given the last of it's festive cheer in the same way.
daz2202
My mrs is always on at me to get a reall Xmas tree. I can never see the point as we have a nice plastic one that comes out of loft each year. Now I have seen what I can do with one after Xmas. Next year she will be allowed one. Never know I might get a rub out if she thinks I have a bit of Xmas spirit

Marki
Do you think they spray the trees with something to stop the needles dropping?
Kes
I use cut -up trees for kindling but also leave them 12 months, or use very little - it does spit and flare alarmingly when just cut but also smells good. I learned this the hard way since my dad's advice was stunningly wrong and I set the chimney on fire the first time.
kennett
Do you think they spray the trees with something to stop the needles dropping? Cant speak for everyone but we sell about 5000 a year at work and we dont spray with anything. But some of the inported stuff is cut in October so has been drying out a while, and as said once they have been dried inside for a few weeks they do burn well!
