paulrobbo1982
Hi everyone, Last week my Hatsan Escort 20g jammed, and not just the usual kind of jammed either! Somehow, and I have no idea how, the cartridge became jammed between the carrier and the bolt/carrier release button. Now, being alone and a relative novice, I panicked and bend the carrier release button down to release the live round. I felt, at the time, that it was the only thing I could do. So, I need to replace the carrier, carrier release button and the spring that makes them work. I've emailed Edgar Bros but no reply thus far... Should I attempt to repair it myself (if it's easy enough), sell as 'spares and repairs' or take just have it destroyed? Thanks Paul
Archie-fox
Wait for Edgar brothers to get back to you, if you fail just sell it for spares... Barrel, forend, and a few other bits.. If you repair it it may malfunction in a bad way, it's not worth the risk..

Peskyfoxs
I did this with mine, I bent it back by hand and fine now ... I must mention mine bent very very slightly but wouldn't feed
paulrobbo1982
Unfortunately, I had to bend it back quite a way... definitely needs replacing. I'll give them a call on Monday, or ask my RFD to call on my behalf. Thanks for the replies guys!
Dekers
If you fancy a bit of DIY gunwork and can get the parts then fine. Why not take it to the RFD where you bought it and get a quote as well, Edgar will not supply you direct anyway so one way or another you will need to talk to your RFD. Edgar bros will carry most parts, they need a lot of spares/replacements for Hatsan. As said, give them a call if you have problems.

When I was trying to get a 20g Hatsan back up and running EB would send me parts FOC even though the gun was long out of guarantee and I wasn't the first owner who the g'tee originally related to. Play your cards right and you may get a whole gun in spares that way!
Lord Geordie
They are a very simple mechanism to work on! With the correct parts, you should get that up and running no problem!

Good service And they cleaned it That would be great, sadly it's an older model and I'm not the first owner. Hopefully, the parts will be available and I can get it up and running, my lad loves shooting it.
Bewsher500
piece of cake to fix, replace all bent parts with new ones and follow the schematics online and don't bend them again!
Underdog
That's not finished yet! And while your in there polish the moving surfaces to improve function! If it happens again take the trigger group out....safety on! Barrel pointing in a safe direction! Remove chambered rounds ASAP!
gemini52
I think this just goes to prove that hatsan still can not build a reliable gun,buy something that works, its the same old story with the same old problems.
paulrobbo1982
What do you think would be a reasonable 'spares and repairs' price on this? £75?
Lord Geordie
Paul Where are you located? If your close enough I would have that from you!

And the Hatsan knockers are off again! The problem was caused by the owner panicking and bending the carrier, how does that make it "the same old problem"? paulrobbo1982
I did indeed panic. Aside from that, it's had no problems whatsoever. I'm based in Derby.

longgun
FYI, It seems there is an updated version trigger assembly www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showpost.php?p=11583837&postcount=
Dangerous Brian
Its a hatsan, says it all. A tad unfair I think. In reference to your earlier post, the OP did say it was an earlier model which makes it a bit of a leap to claim it as the "same old problem". Before you go down the "Hatsan owners unite route", no I don't own one.
Davyo
Get it repaired mate and keep it clean I had the one 3 yrs ago, never had an issue with if even put 100 21g carts through at the clays and it never jammed once.In fact I have just picked up a new one on Friday.Even the best semi's will jam if not kept cleaned.
