hi all

well i was pretty sure after the last foxy incident that i had shot the cheeky so,n,so that wiped out my black leg horn bantam flock but a few days after i seen another in the street so i new there may well be another that i had to be on the look out for..

over the last few months its been quiet with the odd sighting of mr fox but not enough to cause any trouble ...

until the last couple of weeks..

the fox in question has been visiting the garden regular. lucky for me i have not put any more birds down yet but i have 35 quail going out next week and 60 more in the incubator they will be going out too..

he has been lying up in the shed/quail run and have frightened him of twice now ... knowing foxes as we all do we know they cant be around birds and a fox in my garden around my children is a big NO NO...

so once again he had to go...

i baited the garden and got him in a position that would be safe for a shot...

he has been in and taken a rabbit the last three nights but at different time so i had to give it some long hard thought as to what i was going to do...

i have quite a good engineering mind a lot of technical skills and a background working with electronics so i came up with this idea..

yes a cats toy on a string lol lol

i tired one end to the rabbit and the other to the bell/toy and trailed the string in the house up the stairs and into my bedroom...

i got back from shooting about 9 had a quick bite set this "technical equipment" up and headed for bed with a film..

just as i was nodding at 10:45 my little bell went mental

i had my 22 next to the bed with the t20 lamp fitted and mag on the table. i made my way to the back room with the misses in tow i climbed the kids bunk beds as she opened the window i switched the lamp on and there he was bold as brass ragging this rabbit about i placed the bullet broad side on he jumped and barked and made it to the back fence but that was where his journey ended and now my birds are safe to start there season..

Did you mean to say "I got the gun and ammo out of the safe really quickly"?

Good effort and well done.

I just had to watch 2 through the scope as I couldent get them close enough for my HMR.

Very frustrating but I did have 44 rabbits.

well done with the 44 bunny's thats a big bag...

nope gun on floor ready for action i would have locked it away over night its handy to get to from there anyway
