blasterjudd
Well whilst shooting rabbits with the rifle tonight good old Essex Police came over me on my farm in their helicopter and sat over me in the middle of a field for ten minutes then for a further 5 put the strobe light on me. I expected police on foot to arrive but nothing the helicopter eventually flew off. What the hell do they think they are doing they don't come out after coursers like that it makes me so angry.i even waved at them to go away but they still sat there looking down on me. What do they think i was doing in the middle of a field with a 4x4??? Clearly it ruined the shooting and to be honest the strobe made me lose vision for a while god I'm angry with those idiots !!! shootnfish
They used to do a pretty good job of ruining a nights carp fishing on a lake near where its based many a time they used to light up the lake and shine it all around the edge and across the lake on the return journey , no reason for them to do it other than to ****people off. Yet i shoot on the land around the airfield and had it fly over very low when i have been walking around with my gun or in a hide and they have never taken any notice. moorvale55
Why not raise the point with your Crime Commissioner or Chief Constable? i.e. blinding legitimate shooters but not poachers / coursers?
HDAV
Why not raise the point with your Crime Commissioner or Chief Constable? i.e. blinding legitimate shooters but not poachers / coursers? ezi bez
By contacting the police before your outing telling them where you're going to be shooting. Atb ezi

r1steele
How would/do they know who is legit? I know what you mean but to be fair they didn't even bother checking him out so they still wouldn't have known if he was or wasn't apart from the fact that he didn't try to leg it. Kes
Just ask the Chief Constable in a letter, copied to the Crime Commissioner, how much it costs to fly the helicopter per hour under the Freedom of Information Act. Then explain you have had one hovering over you whilst you went about your lawful business for 15 mins ata cost of ....... Promise you will publish the results in the local paper. Salop Matt
I bet they have a facebook or twitter account registar your issue on there so everyone can see how silly they are and how they are wasting tax payers money !
Fuddster
Have you ruled out the obvious that they were responding to a call from a tax paying member of the public about a 'suspicious 4x4' mooching about a field in the dark? r1steele
4x4 number plate, registration check would tell them firearms holder. Still doesn't mean he had permission to be there and it certainly wouldn't take 15 minutes.
The Juicer
Phone up or send the chopper unit inspector, your gripe. That may well stop it.
djgeoff
perhaps they were doing a spot of lamping
parapilot
If they see a vehicle and someone in a field in the middle of the night id expect them to stop and have a look. All the rural crime etc going on, travelers steeling diesel etc etc They were just doing their job, prob watched you, took some details and decided you were doing no harm so left. Can't see the issue. If they are hanging around dial 101 and tell them who you are and the chopper is overhead poss looking at you. Will sort it out quickly. arjimlad
I am not sure that they would necessarily be able to read a number plate from the air. A call to 101 is probably the best thing. I have had them answered every time.
andrew f
By contacting the police before your outing telling them where you're going to be shooting. Alycidon
By contacting the police before your outing telling them where you're going to be shooting. Atb ezi Used to do that. All that happens is a note is put into a day book. Dont bother now. Been lit up by the chopper one night and also pulled off the road after a report of a slow moving green lamp in a field. Dont bother to tell them now, not been stopped since not that I go out lot these day, eyes are not what they were. A
