She was fine on single shot by the looks of it, but full auto was a step to far I think.

Wasn't like he even properly braced her either

Sad accident.

My friend went on holiday to the deep south, and he was looking at excursions and what to book, and his wife pointed out horse riding and he managed to find RPG shooting... Mental.

When he was there he went to the range nearly every day to shoot handguns and rifles and one day he turned up and the range was closed, the guy in the shop said someone rented a desert eagle and blew his brains out.

Went to a gun range in Orlando i had a go on a full auto uzi among other firearms had my 11yr old daughter with me was told she was to young to shot the uzi as needed to be 13yr but she was fine to fire the 50ae desert eagle, not that she did as it was as long as she was wide. Very sad for all involved.

I've shot a full auto Uzi - recoil is negligible. Can shoot it without shouldering the shock single handed - it is that smooth. I wonder if she didn't flinch in surprise. It is only a 9mm and most of the recoil energy is absorbed very smoothly to chamber the next round.

I can't believe the NRA's response. Unfathomable. I just can't get my head round it...

The death of a gun range instructor in the US was caused by parents who waited too long to introduce their 9 year-old daughter to an Uzi, according the gun advocates in the US.
The nine year-old girl lost control of the Uzi and killed the instructor at the Last Stop shooting range in White Hills, Arizona, in an accident many are claiming would not have happened if she’d been given control of an Uzi before she was five.
An NRA spokesperson explained, “You’re never too young to learn about guns, so if you can stumble across the room into your parents arms, you can probably hold a rifle of some sort.”
“The only guaranteed way to end these tragic deaths is to stop leaving it so late in introducing our children to gun safety. Do you think this poor little girl would have lost control of that Uzi if she’s been using one since she was a toddler? Of course she wouldn’t. She’s going to have to live the rest of her life in the knowledge she killed a man because her parents were too negligent to teach her to handle an Uzi properly when she was even younger. That’s why we started our new campaign ‘Uzis for Twosies’, where we are promoting gun safety amongst the nation’s toddlers.”
Fans of deadly guns have said an earlier introduction to high-powered killing devices is the safest thing all round for America’s kids. Another explained, “It’s like riding a bike, you might have learnt when you were four, but you never forget. But teaching an older child or an adult to use a bike for the first time is just too difficult. So I have a dream, a dream in which America’s pre-schoolers are the best armed in the world. And we’re almost there.”

You know that's a satirical website right? You know like the onion? Or the daily mash? Did you honestly believe the NRA would say such a thing!? I am pretty sure they would say a child that age should be instructed using a .22lr single shot like the daisy rifles which are aimed at kids.

And there is nothing wrong with a 9 year old shooting. In fact here the youngest child issued a shotgun licence was 9 years old I believe. The problem were stupid parents, and it is pretty obvious there should be regulation for a shooting range as to the kinds of firearms that can be legally shot by people under a certain age, ie: no 9 year old should shoot select fire or a .500 S and W revolver! This would prevent inexperienced people giving their kids unsuitable firearms to shoot.

I have shot the 500 S&W too - a real beast and I'd never give that to an inexperienced shot. When I shot it in the US they chambered 1 round at a time, and I shot it first cocking the hammer back while they watched me like a hawk. I'd never give one to anyone under 14 or of small frame.

I didn't know that one was. And Yes I can entirely imagine someone from the NRA saying something like this. As with any satire, there' got to be a slight element of truth to it, or it would just be daft. why can I imagine someone saying that? HELLO?? someone gave a 9 year old an Uzi! Idiotic.

Well the element of truth is that the event actually happened, as with all satire. Grossly offensive to make a joke out of though, especially just as it happened so I can see why you might not of realised. Look here is a good example of similar satire:-

The element of truth is that trains are expensive!

I believe that it is correct to assume that the girl was too inexperienced to fire such a gun in full auto mode the fault lies on the instructor. Of course many uninformed people will point out that it's crazy the way that americans let their kids shoot guns failing to note that in UK many kids also shoot guns as well, but they are better supervised. Incidents like this don't put me of, when my kids grow up they will be shooting guns no doubt.

According to the BBC news on the radio this morning the child had fired one round on single shot with the instructor bracing her, but for some reason the next time she pulled the trigger it was on full auto and she lost control.

I'm not passing judgement either way, it is legal for children to shoot Uzi's in some of the American states. My son was shooting a pump-action shotgun at 9, and his nephew at 8, which is legal here.
