The Beeb or Sky news ( i forget which) were filming up there and they were asking the locals which way they were voting and why.

whereas a few wanted it more didnt say that thought they would become the forgotten people and it would just mean there would be more bureaucracy,

From what I have seen the locals use the post bus? will eck still fund this as at the moment its funded by the post office?

I dont think enough has been posted about where all his funding will come from.

I for one don't want to see the union broke up :sad1:

Mate as I have said earlier, good people here, realist's, proud islanders, proud scots, will not be voting yes, what worries me is the 50/50 split,

I think the kids will swing it to the yes vote purely because they don't have a clue what they are voting for...they seem to think its one big adventure and a complete novelty.

Sadly Salmond wont be around to pick up the pieces it will be Scotlands youth today... and they wont have a hope in hell.

I know the the flight from Durham Tees Valley to Aberdeen is a mail flight, that would probably stop straight away, then there are the trains and other transport. Road tax, highway laws for foreigners who knows what else. Nothing of these subjects have been talked about in public by Salmond as far as I'm aware. He just keeps saying they won't answer the big questions. What questions Salmond like no your not getting the pound sterling no your not in Europe with us, no we're not your armed forces. No we're not your benefits bank. Wonder how tourism will be affected as many English will think twice due to resentment on both sides.

disagree, my kids (granted most are to young), are decidedly in the no camp, without prompting from me or school. My 14yr old said today why don't young kids get the vote because its their future, he's a no.

Mike, I posted a bit earlier saying that according to the polling statistics the youngest age bracket are more tending towards the No vote which has been a surprise to many.

Also in a lot of high schools there have been debates around the issue and mock referendums and albeit unscientific the majority do return a favourable No result. In many cases this has actually run contrary to the demographic of the area the school is located, suggesting that the non partisan discussions in the schools have a greater influence on the kids voting intentions than say the views of parents or elder siblings.

Setting aside the referendum itself I think that is really encouraging for Scotland, a generation of kids that do have some political motivation and that actually form reasoned opinions based on research might free Scotland from the yolk of generational party political allegiance.

A fact many fail to see.

Not really. The main racial types are Caucasoid, mongoloid and negroid. Putting aside any English or Scots people who fall under the latter racial groupings and concentrating on the historic antipathy that formed between the two nations, then those antipathies grew between peoples of the same racial stock i.e. Caucasoid. Therefore it is not racist

It is anti nation or anti ethnic however.
Sorry for being pedantic :-)

Another frighting fact emerged...in an interview in a strong YES area.....the undecided were asked what would sway them to vote a definate YES....and the answer was.........................." if the BBC would still continue to screen East Enders"..........

oohhh dear oh dear oh dear........

Wonder what's going to happen if this yes vote wins?

Will we stop broadcasting to Scotland?

There are a lot of issues to sort out, to be truly independent.

If it does happen I hope our government have the balls to cut the apron strings properly. Like when handing Hong Kong back this would be no different.

This has come up in the press. Scottish broadcaster will have to license series like Eastenders or Dr Who - but the most likely scenario is they get satellite dishes and get a free ride on freesat.

The scary thing is that this is the level of 'analysis' some people are applying to the decision.

It was interesting today that Salmond was furious that the news of the banks re-registering in England had been 'leaked'. Not that it was wrong, but that the truth had come out.

If independence _is_ such a good thing he should be happy to let us know the truth, warts and all.

Nial.
