AULD YIN
Always used gamebore clear pigeon 32 6s but went of them when they changed to the black and my hit rate went down (it was low before but got a lot worse) whether they changed anything else i dont know , tried proper cartridges 32 6s and hitting a dam site better, could all be a confidence thing but they work for me, ,,very unusual that cheaper is better so keep making them george. johnnie
Stgeorge123
No one using the Hull paper cases! I love them too and not because of the paper case! U. Hull Three Crowns 25g 6 Shot 20 Gauge Paper Case simply the best game cartridge I have used......
stuey
Just started using Hull high pheasant in 30g 6's. Seem a nice hard hitting cartridge compared to the clear pigeon 30g 6's I was using before.
Hatcher
I use EJ Churchill Hellfire 30g 5's. Very similar to Black Gold but without the kick. An unbelievably good cartridge. I personally wouldn't use anything else considering: i) How well it patterns in my gun, ii) The felt recoil is substantially less than Black Golds iii) They are a similar price to Black Golds. motty
Give someone 10 different 'game' shells in a blind test. They would not be able to pick out their usual favourite.

TIGHTCHOKE
Yerrwhaaa? You buy them just for your son? An owner of a local estate used them every season. Come on a lorry to the hall. In summers he would give me some for the crows and rooks if I asked for some. As a young man I thought I was being given rubbish, that is until I used them! Have a couple hundred in battery now. U. Yes he only gets them for the GOOD days, rest of the time I give him Victoty or Rio shells.
Guest cookoff013
i used the rios, they are not a bad shell. i did try to stick to british manufacturers but eurpean loading are real good value for money. last proper game shell i used wad 3 crowns, the last vermin shells i used up were 36g #2 and #4 rotweill. numpty
Used RC20 28g number 6 in my Beretta 20 bore since April this year on pigeon and now on pheasants and have to say they are a nice, quick and hard hitting cartridge that is suited to my gun. figgy
My favourite cartridge was Caledonian XL 30g 6 very smooth and took some very good birds with them, puts a smile on my face everytime I use them. Sadly Eley/Maxam bought the company. No doubt will have altered the powders and components to their own, so never bought anymore after that. Use the ones I have left sparingly. norfolk dumpling
My 20g doesnt seem to be too fussy and use any of Gamebore/Hull/RC/Lyverdale in 25-28gm. All seem to kill if I point gun in right direction. I stick with no6's and I'm not sure what is going on but it is either a good kill or a complete miss and at the point I pull the trigger I know instantly which it will be - is this the same for all of you? fenboy
I mostly like a cartridge with shot in , I find they work well then . I really do think 99.9% of what make a particular cartridge our favourite is in our heads , yes its nice to have confidence in what you are using but there is not a cartridge out there that will not do as it is intended for. southwest_colonel
Gamebore Black Golds (32g 6s) for the majority of what I shoot. Same fps as the White Golds I use for clays, so can keep things fairly consistent. It also seems to be just the right speed for how my mind works out lead. Very clean through my gun too, whereas Eley and Hull both seem to push a lot of rubbish through the barrels. (Hull High Pheasants are my go to with my reserve gun). Strange how some gun and cartridge combinations seem to like each other. That said... if needs be, more than happy to shoot with anything. Just very much a man of habit. anser2
In lead most seem like peas in a pod to me, though if I had to chose perhaps Gamebore pigeon special or EWley Impax. In steel I am more fussy. Any of the gamebore range are good for a given load , Remmington or RC. After several bad experiances I will never use Lydale steel again in any load. Express hevi-shot used to be good , but the later lighter loads were nowhere as good as the originals.
