Sorry but I've just tasted yesterdays BBQ.

Thankyou, had just seen this image on google and then had a look on GT. Must say I'd never noticed this about them before but there again the 'SuperTrap' isn't a gun I'd give a second glance after first spotting that rib.

Saying that, get rid of that rib and I'd have to say I like the look of that, especially the floating barrels. I noticed the bulges aren't as apparent on the 'sporter' versions as those on the version you posted a pic' of.

I still think they're a very good looking bit of kit though. I don't think it would put me off but would have to have a good look at one in the flesh really.

It's definitely not like that! I wouldn't look twice at that kind of set up. I will have a closer look this week.

Cawdor, can I ask why you say that? Is it the fact that it isn't original or the price or a dislike of blaser. I'm just trying to get as many opinions as I can.

Would you buy a cut down Holland or purdy?

Harnser

That's a fair comment, and no I wouldn't, but then I wouldn't buy an original; just not my cup of tea.

There are some who wouldn't buy a sleeved one either, for the same reason, as discussed on here in another thread just recently.

Not a worthy comparison. They are investment not just a tool to shoot with. The F3 is a tool and if he comes to sell it ever, well you'll get what you get. It's what it has done for you and partially how it looks (not affected here) that helps.

It is like having a car. You get it for how it works and what it looks like, not what you might get for it 5 years down the line. That's just a matter of life.

If you like it, shoot well with it just do it and stop us fannying around in telling you what to think. Only you will conclude so jump either way.

That was just the first pic I came across where the dreaded bulge was visible, happened to be a high rib Trap but the Sporters with a regular rib are no different. If I ever bought a new one it'd have to be a fixed choke which when Teagued will still look parallel, the one you're talking about might look OK too but then that would have to mean they cut more than 2" off so technically it could be a 29.5" barrel !?

Funny some worry about resale values in shotguns rather that how much they like it, yet vertually nobody considers resale values as a priority when they buy cars, which are far more expensive

I think a lot of us do, most don't like buying cars that have been kev'ed up for instance like lowered suspension or side skirts because it does affect ease of resale if nothing else.

I love mine. I picked up every gun in the shop and chose the F3 because of fit, amazing 'in the shoulder balance' (such as makes the gun feel like a pointable feather) and a flat sight picture - you see nothing but the bead at the end when you look down the barrels (ie you don't see any rib and you're not conscious of the barrels even being there).

Obviously if you want to buy a gun for a better name or a better resale value or because something else might be on special offer or come with 500 free carts then that's up to you

It's the one gun I'll never sell (and I've had and sold quite a few)

It is entirely normal for me to over think decisions but with this gun I think I am right to seek the opinions of others. Before posting this thread I searched for blaser f3 on this forum and found precious little. I googled it and got the usual **** mixture of OTT praise from owners and reviewers. I don't consider the opinions expressed "fannying around" as they have helped me decide a game plan!

As a result of this discussion I know what I will do. I did shoot well with it last week but it was only once. I will go back and look for the flared barrels and assess the easy opening. I will shoot it and another gun again. If I go for it I will negotiate and get more off. I am prepared to walk away if I don't get what I want as it is not an untouched gun.

Thanks to all contributors and I will let you know what happens.

If it meant I could get one for £1500 instead of £5000 (which consequently meant that I could afford it at £1500 but not at £5000) then yes definitely!

Some may say that's sacrilege, but id say its sacriligie to cut it down in the first place!

I think it was cut down because it was damaged ..A bit like a repaired write off car ,it will still drive but will have a stigma attached to it .

Just a quick update. I was quoted too much to change so I am leaving the f3. I think i would have gone for it if I had been quoted less but it was too much money for a gun with question marks hanging over it. I'm a bit disappointed but there was no way I was paying what was being asked.

Thanks for all the input.

Did you look at it again and if you did then did it have an odd size flare at the muzzle due to being chopped down as some speculated it may?
